These guys are legit! They showed up on time as scheduled, worked very quickly but the work still looked high quality. The bid did not change one penny. My crawlspace was very skinny in some spots and they finished it perfectly to every corner. They were efficient, professional, clean, fast and competitive. I would definitely recommend Insulation Co for your job.

The crawl space to my property had not been addressed in more than 20 years. While having my crawl space inspected, the inspector stated he noticed rat feces and the vapor barrier not fully intact. I reached out to this insulation company and not sure what to expect. The team arrived as scheduled and immediately began to work. Four employees worked in my crawlspace nonstop. They were all business from start to finish and very much organized. Complete professionals in completing the task. Hi would definitely hire this company again to complete Like work. Oh, the price for completing the work was fair.

We recently hired Jo and his team to complete insulation work in our attic, and the experience was exceptional. They quickly identified several issues: including rodents, mold, and roof leaks and guided us through the entire remediation process. Jo also helped us find reliable subcontractors, ensuring the work was completed thoroughly and on time. They treated the mold, added cellulose insulation to the attic, submitted the PSE rebate and delivered high-quality results at the most competitive price among all the bids we received. Jo and his team were professional, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. Thank you for everything, the attic looks great now.

I hired Proficient Insulation to apply spray foam to the ceiling of a shipping container to stop condensation raining inside. Excellent communication and quick to answer questions. Mario arrived on time and was very professional. He worked efficiently and left everything clean and neat with no overspray. The container had 3 roll-up doors that roll up close to the ceiling. Mario was able to apply insulation in the tight space above them without getting it too thick where it would interfere with the doors opening. I'm very pleased with the result and happy with the price too.

I own GF Construction, in Bellingham. Mario and crew are excellent. I had a small, older home with around 12" of crawl space. Mario and crew hand dug, and hauled out the soil to get to 18" crawl. They set 6 mil vapor barrier, and perfectly insulated the floor. They also vacuumed the old insulation in the attic and blew new to proper R value. They do great work at very competitive pricing. I highly recommend Mario and Proficient Insulation for all of your insulation and crawlspace needs.

From start to finish, Mario and his crew nailed it. First, cost was absolutely fair. Second, Mario was super knowledgeable regarding our needs and permit requirements and was able to solve all of the special needs our building had, like a spray foam ceiling. Third, they are fast! We would hire Mario and Proficient Insulation again in a heartbeat and definitely will for any future projects. This was probably the most painless of the many steps involved in our project.

I am extremely happy with the work that was done. I received multiple quotes, and this company was by far the most professional, kind, and prompt throughout the entire process. Their pricing was fair, and the quality of work exceeded my expectations. The crew that arrived was highly professional, exceptionally knowledgeable, and worked diligently throughout the day to complete a large project. The attention to detail and work ethic were outstanding. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality workmanship and reliable service Coupled with amazing customer service.

A&Z was a joy to work with! They were always very prompt with responses and kept to an intense schedule. With PSE rebates (which they also filed on behalf of the HOA) the cost to individual owners was extremely reasonable! 10/10 Experience and would work with them again.

I can’t recommend A & Z insulation enough! From the initial meeting through the completion of the project, they were phenomenal to work with! Ashley and Zack were professional, knowledgeable, kind, and responsive and their crew were incredibly hard working, skilled, punctual, efficient, professional, tidy, helpful, and great people. Ashely was always available for questions, she was so fast sending emails, and they process the PSE rebates so we didn’t have to! We were so amazed and thankful with how great the price was! Our building was built in the 70’s and had zero insulation. After the crew insulated our walls, it has made a world of difference! Our home feels more secure and cozy, like it’s giving us a warm hug :-) It is also so much quieter! We don’t hear outside noise anymore, it’s wild! If you’re needing work done and looking for someone to help you, look no further than A & Z!! The entire team went above and beyond for us and we are so thankful 🙏🏽 ☺️

Insulation and gutter job on fire rebuild was done well by polite and conscientious workers. I recommend this company

Timothy Jacobs3 years ago

Disappointing gutter installation. Master Insullation installed three gutter sections on my home on Lopez Island. I specified in my request for a bid that my roof would require gutter wedges due to the angle of our roof edges. Master Insullations estimate came back saying yes they would install gutter wedeges. I accepted the bid. The gutters they installed did have wedges, however the angle was much smaller than the angle of my roof edge. The gutters droop down. I requested that they replace the wedges with the correct angle. They replied that their supplier doesn't make wedges with a greater angle, and a larger wedge wasn't in their bid so they would not correct the installation. I researched gutter wedges on the web and found larger ones on Amazon and other suppliers. Several emails and phone calls later the best they would do is come out and swap the wedges, but I'd have to supply the wedges at my expense. I feel like a customer shouldn't have to be an expert on gutter wedge angles and supply to get a quality job.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Mount Vernon

These are the questions Mount Vernon homeowners ask most about spray foam cost, R-value, and open- vs. closed-cell foam — with context for local pricing and roughly 35% typical energy savings. Compare the 4 verified Mount Vernon contractors above for exact quotes.

How much can spray foam insulation save on heating and cooling bills in Mount Vernon?
Homeowners in mixed climates like Mount Vernon, WA typically see 20–30% reductions in total energy costs after spray foam installation. The savings come from both reduced heating in winter and reduced cooling in summer. The exact savings depend on your home's current insulation, size, and local energy rates, but most homeowners recoup the investment within 3–6 years.
Is spray foam better than fiberglass insulation for homes in Mount Vernon?
For most homes in Mount Vernon, WA, spray foam outperforms fiberglass significantly. Fiberglass batts insulate but do not air seal — meaning conditioned air still escapes through gaps. Spray foam both insulates and creates an airtight seal, addressing the root cause of energy loss. While spray foam costs more upfront, the performance difference in mixed climates makes it the better long-term investment for most homeowners.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost in Mount Vernon, WA?
In Mount Vernon, WA and the surrounding area, spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your home's specifics. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic in Mount Vernon costs $2,000–$6,000. Most Mount Vernon homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor in Mount Vernon, WA?
When searching for a spray foam contractor in Mount Vernon, WA, look for ones who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified Mount Vernon contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors in Mount Vernon for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
