Kamren and ISM team are great to work with. They have done all of the insulation of my home during an addition project that included wall and attic insulation and crawl space encapsulation! They did an amazing job! Always on time! Great price!! My heating bills have dropped dramatically!! I would highly recommend this company.

Nicole Hall★★★★★10 months ago

Kamren and his crew are top notch! They did an excellent job spraying foaming my basement! Kamren came out gave us some suggestions on what would work best for our application and he explained everything that he would be doing. He provided a detailed quote and got us on his schedule quickly. We felt very confident with Kamren and ISM and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I would highly recommend ISM to anyone looking for an honest, high quality insulation contractor. We look forward to doing more business with them in the future!

I've used ISM 2 different times. Absolutely best contractor I've ever experienced! First of all, Kamren is a very good and decent young man. Was a little apprehensive about him being young, but his wisdom and experience is beyond his age. He noticed a flaw in attic that occurred when house was built (1972) and corrected it. Second, if a problem does arise, which a slight one did on one of my jobs, Kamren will take care of it. Also, I live 1 1/2 hours away and within a few days of call. he drove over to address issue. He takes pride in his work and won't "ghost" you like some other contractors do, ie: they've received money, and won't follow up if problems occur. Will use ISM in the future.

My family was plagued this winter by a skyrocketed electric bill. A friend of mine recommended we check out Gaylord Spray foam Insulation. After checking out their visually appealing website we decided to call them to assess our options. They quickly came to the house and recommended their polyurethane spray services. Now our electric bill has been cut in half.

I would recommend Efficient Foam to anyone looking to have any insulation work done. EFI sprayed my basement walls and the bond. Not only did they allow me to finish my basement they cut my propane bill in half. They did an excellent job, in fact the walls in my utility room were left unfinished and the foam is applied so nice it didn’t need covering. They are very knowledgeable and friendly.

Darrell Boyne★★★★★9 months ago

I was having some home repairs done and decided to also improve the insulation at the same time. Efficient foam worked with the main contractor and spray foamed the exterior walls, HUGE improvement in heat retention and noise reduction, one of the best investments in my home I've done. Recommend Efficient Foam Insulation to anyone needing an insulation upgrade.

I have used Efficient Foam many times over the years. I have had them do two of my pole barns, a remote office space, breezeway crawl space, and now recently my basement. Quality of the work can't be beat. I have recommended them to anyone who has ever been in need of insulation, especially pole barns. They always made sure I am happy with their work. John C. (owner) is an expert and is fair. I like working with good people who care about the work they do and the satisfaction of their customers.

The crew is very professional. They did a crawl space under the house and a 40x60 pole barn. Communication was great, on time, discussed any needed information, and did a great job. Thank you too to Melissa, the office manager who sent out the invoice. It was easy to pay directly from the invoice.

The other day I sat down with Doug from Foamall, he explained all the difference in the different types of insulation and there uses and applications. I feel way more informed now to make the right choice on the correct product for the right application. If you are looking to have your home, crawlspace or anything else insulated give Foamall a call

had a great experience! they did the job for a great price, were able to offer better services for the price (compared to other companies in the area), they were very transparent, inspector/estimater was very knowledgeable, trustworthy and easy to talk to, they were able to work around my schedule, was able to provide me with referrals for other work that i needed around my house, workers who performed the job were fast, friendly, knowledgeable and cleaned up everything very well after completing (not something you come across very often). I would recommend this company to my family & friends!

We had our attic insulation topped off today. I had a great experience with Mike from Zebra Insulation. I highly recommend his service. Gave us a great price and the work was done quickly and professionally. Zebra Insulation is a family owned business.

Rich Fein★★★★★3 months ago

Many thanks to Zebra. I'm very happy with the work they did insulating our rim joists. My project was a little less than their minimum order, so they provided some recommendations on additional services that would help fill that minimum. Scheduling was easy and they showed up when expected. It took them only about 1/2 a day which included spotless clean-up. And then they completed and submitted all the paperwork for my DTE rebate, for which I received a rebate check promptly.

I had cellulose insulation added to my attic and BPS did a great job. The crew was so nice and answered any questions I had the day of the job. They arrived on time and got right to work. Was done in about 2.5 hours. The crew was so clean and didn't leave any mess behind. They made sure to show me pictures of my attic and I was pleased. Alex (the manager) was great to work with too and also answered all my questions leading up to the job. Might I add Alex didn't try selling me something I wasn't interested in as I just wanted attic insulation. I loved that!! I would definitely recommend this company. :)

Aaron Rinehimer★★★★★3 years ago

I had Building Performance Solutions install injection foam into the exterior walls of my garage as well as blow cellulose insulation into the garage attic. Alex was extremely professional answering all of the questions I had regarding the installation. I highly appreciate Alex getting me a quote quickly and getting his team to perform the work within a week. If your home needs insulation I would highly recommend Building Performance Solutions.

Joseph Wortman★★★★★7 months ago

BPS did a large project for me, and about 18 months later, some issues came up. I called the owner, Alex, who quickly inspected the work, acknowledged the problems, and suggested improvements. Two weeks later, his crew spent a full day fixing everything and making the space even better. Problems happen—but how a company handles them is what matters. Huge thanks to Alex and the BPS team for standing behind their work and making it right!

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Warren

Why is spray foam insulation especially important in cold climates like Warren?
In cold climates like Warren, MI, proper insulation is critical to preventing heat loss, ice dams, and frozen pipes. Spray foam's air-sealing properties stop the cold air infiltration that traditional insulation cannot address. It also prevents the moisture buildup inside walls that leads to mold in cold-weather freeze-thaw cycles. Homeowners in MI typically save 25–35% on heating costs. Note: in tightly sealed homes, proper mechanical ventilation is commonly recommended to maintain fresh air exchange without losing the heat you've paid for.
Does spray foam insulation prevent ice dams in Warren?
Yes — spray foam insulation is one of the most effective solutions for preventing ice dams in cold climates like Warren, MI. Ice dams form when heat escapes through a poorly insulated attic, melting snow that refreezes at the eaves. By creating an air-tight thermal barrier in the attic, spray foam eliminates the heat loss that causes ice dams in the first place.
What R-value do I need for spray foam insulation in Warren?
For cold climates like Warren, MI, the Department of Energy recommends attic insulation of R-49 to R-60. Closed-cell spray foam provides R-6 to R-7 per inch, meaning 8–10 inches achieves code-minimum performance. Open-cell foam at R-3.5 per inch requires greater thickness. A local contractor familiar with MI building codes can recommend the exact specification for your home.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost?
Spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your location. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic costs $2,000–$6,000. Most homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor?
Look for contractors who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
