Awesome company to work with! They installed insulation on the first floor of my house and a vapor barrier in the crawl space during a flood restoration project. Jim, Luis, and Dan were all very knowledgeable and helpful with their recommendations. They were flexible with scheduling around work that needed to be completed by other contractors and helped keep my project moving forward quickly. I'm very pleased with their work!

A. Munz★★★★★5 years ago

Jim worked with me on my project and understood my budget. Crew arrived promptly and took time to properly mask and drape surrounding areas prior to spray foam. Applying it is hard, nasty work and these guys did it well. The cleanup was just as attentive. I highly recommend. As a side note, prepare your area for the insulators. If it can be moved, then move it out of the way to make their life easier. (I missed moving a 4x4 on the top of the wall, and unfortunately, this is now spray foamed in for life.) No big deal....

Jim came out for a free consult when we noticed frost in the corner of our bump out closest during really cold winter days. Jim was very friendly and knowledgeable as he broke down why it’s happening and how to prevent it. He was incredibly helpful and we would definitely call him again if we needed insulation work in the future.

I have had insulation done 3 times in different parts of my home. The 1st time was done in all the walls of the house. That winter i noticed my gas bill went down from previous years. The 2nd time was my family room ceiling. The 3rd time was Oct. 14. 2025. I had the garage done. It keeps the garage warmer by 20 to 30° I read on line. So far it has stopped the mice from moving in since I had this done. I had a serious issue with mice for 2 years. Thank you for being so thorough and extremely helpful. Your employees went above and beyond each time to help me out. All your employees were great, friendly, professional and did an excellent job doing the work and clean up. I definitely recommend 👌 them

Nothing but good things to say! For starters, their quote process was very quick, easy and much more realistic than some other large companies!! Scheduling was easy! The actual install went perfectly and the crew cleaned up after themselves leaving no mess. I would not hesitate to recommend them to friends or family!

The whole process with Thermal Comfort has been great. Dason was the only person to actually come out and look at my remodel before quoting the spray foaming out of several other quotes I got. Then the day came and the team came. They did a great job, and it was not a simple job. It was a remodel with a bunch of harder to spray areas. They got in as many nooks and crannies as they could. I am very happy with the work done.

We have been in a 2 year long build with many facets. I reached out to Dason at the very beginning about the project and his professional insight was spot on. I had very specific engineering requirements for our build to achieve a very high performance, Thermal comfort gave us what I required. I had a previous Spray foam contractor from a prior build and received 3 additional bids for this 2020 project. I choose Thermal comfort from the 4 companies for several reasons and I am very pleased that I did. Closed cell IMO is the only way to go, that said the install is critical and the site crew was fantastic. George, was the lead and listened to my install concerns and did an excellent job. Rich and Walt were also on hand and also did great. They accommodated us the best possible in the timing of our project. They were thorough, conscientious and and their site prep and clean up was excellent. We have future projects and they will be our insulation contractor from now on.

If you’re looking for a spray foam guy, look no more. Dason and his team are outstanding! Very flexible schedule wise and very competitive pricing wise. I will be using Thermal Comfort for all my future spray jobs. Highly recommend!

Had the basement rim joist air sealed/spray foam insulation done at my home yesterday and the technician Quintin did a fantastic job. Working with Matt was great and I would definitely recommend this company.

Karen Wendling★★★★★6 months ago

We needed our attic insulation replaced due to rodents. Contacted Matt and knew i made the correct call right away. Justin came out to inspect the attic and determine several problems. They were able to schedule us within two weeks. The very professional crew came out and kept everything as clean as when they got here. Found and fixed a few problems we didn't know about and finished the whole job in less than a day. Attic looks like new, all the fans are vented properly and things are sealed up as they should be now. Price was in line with other estimates but I know these guys do more than other companies do for the price. Would definitely recommend this company if you need new insulation or a complete replacement like we had done. Communication was great also.

Matt and his team were a pleasure to work with, all were very professional. We had vermiculite in our attic, and they were extremely professional on how to remove it without it getting in the house at all. The vermiculite did not once enter the house once. If I need to have more insulation work done, I will certainly work with Matt and his team again.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Butler

These are the questions Butler homeowners ask most about spray foam cost, R-value, and open- vs. closed-cell foam — with context for local pricing and roughly 37% typical energy savings. Compare the 4 verified Butler contractors above for exact quotes.

Why is spray foam insulation especially important in cold climates like Butler?▼
In cold climates like Butler, WI, proper insulation is critical to preventing heat loss, ice dams, and frozen pipes. Spray foam's air-sealing properties stop the cold air infiltration that traditional insulation cannot address. It also prevents the moisture buildup inside walls that leads to mold in cold-weather freeze-thaw cycles. Homeowners in WI typically save 25–35% on heating costs. Note: in tightly sealed homes, proper mechanical ventilation is commonly recommended to maintain fresh air exchange without losing the heat you've paid for.
Does spray foam insulation prevent ice dams in Butler?▼
Yes — spray foam insulation is one of the most effective solutions for preventing ice dams in cold climates like Butler, WI. Ice dams form when heat escapes through a poorly insulated attic, melting snow that refreezes at the eaves. By creating an air-tight thermal barrier in the attic, spray foam eliminates the heat loss that causes ice dams in the first place.
What R-value do I need for spray foam insulation in Butler?▼
For cold climates like Butler, WI, the Department of Energy recommends attic insulation of R-49 to R-60. Closed-cell spray foam provides R-6 to R-7 per inch, meaning 8–10 inches achieves code-minimum performance. Open-cell foam at R-3.5 per inch requires greater thickness. A local contractor familiar with WI building codes can recommend the exact specification for your home.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?▼
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost in Butler, WI?▼
In Butler, WI and the surrounding area, spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your home's specifics. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic in Butler costs $2,000–$6,000. Most Butler homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?▼
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?▼
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor in Butler, WI?▼
When searching for a spray foam contractor in Butler, WI, look for ones who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified Butler contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors in Butler for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?▼
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?▼
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
