We recently partnered with Carolina Weatherization to seal our attic and add additional insulation to bring it up to R49. We chose them because they were one of the companies recommended by Duke Energy and also because of their excellent reviews on Google. Matt came out and assessed our attic and provided a very competitive proposal to seal and upgrade our insulation to R49. He was very professional, knowledgeable, easy to work with and was helpful in pointing out some problem areas in the attic for us. Matt is awesome! His team followed-up in a few weeks and did a fantastic job and we can already feel a positive difference this winter since it feels less drafty upstairs. We want to give kudos to the entire team of Brian, Chris, Alex and Eric for the first-rate work they did over a day and a half. Not only did they do an excellent job but they left our home clean and were very respectful of our property. We hardly knew they had been there! During the process, Brian explained everything they were doing and made sure he answered our questions. This is a really great group of guys who deserve a lot of credit for the fine job they do. Finally, Matt followed-up with us regarding the Duke Energy rebate for this work and automatically filed our rebate on our behalf. He also shared with us several pictures of the work they did for documentation purposes. We appreciated his prompt and thorough follow-up throughout the entire process. Bottom line...if you are in need of upgrading your attic insulation, we would highly recommend Carolina Weatherization as the company to choose. You can trust them to get the job done right for a fair price. You will not be disappointed!

Let's say if you don't go with this company, you'll be severally disappointed. The Carolina Weatherization team, (Matt, Eric, Chris and Brian) are phenomenal! I considered putting in insulation in October to support my energy costs and went through several quotes with other companies prior to selecting this team. I am incredibly happy that I reviewed this quote and chose this team. They let me know they were on the way prior to arrival, took impeccable care of my home by laying down cloth, wearing booties, and doing a bang up cleaning job prior to leaving. They were helpful in repairing a shelving unit and installing a brand new attic door to support all of their work. These gentlemen take pride in their work and it shows with how diligent they are in ensuring that the right steps are taking before, during, and after.

B Littlefield★★★★★4 months ago

We just bought an older home that had some serious insulation issues in the attic. Carolina Weatherization came out today and it looks like an entirely different attic! The guys were so courteous and efficient - it was raining this morning and they took extra care to place drop clothes everywhere and cover their boots. They worked tirelessly all day in this awful heat and I was so impressed! Matt was a pleasure to work with and we are confident this will make a huge difference in our energy bills. Highly recommend!

We needed our 31 year old skylight shaft re-insulated as the old insulation had fallen off and it was in a part of the attic I could not reach. Adam and his team were the only company that would take on the small job. They showed up next day and did an excellent job! Would highly recommend!

Adam mounted many items in my apartment including the bedroom lamps, nightstands, TV’s, TV stand, key hanger and my dyson vacuum on the wall and took the time to make sure I liked the measurements before doing anything. Will highly recommend!

After getting multiple quotes from different companies around the triangle I decided to go with Triangle Radiant Barrier based off the reviews and the price. They did my crawlspace encapsulation and I am extremely impressed and pleased with the results. From the start I knew the company was an honest company. I started with someone coming out to take photos and measurements, then had a zoom meeting with one of the owners to go over the price and upgrade options, and then had someone reach out to schedule. Once my install date came they had the old insulation and vapor barrier out, the fungus fogging and scrubbing, and new vapor barrier down in 2 days. Then a few days later they came out and did the spray foam in less than 1 day. Afterwards one of the owners came out and inspected the work and answered all my questions. As someone who is very picky on hiring companies, I can’t say enough about how good this company treated me and my home. I HIGHLY recommend going with them for your crawlspace needs!

mariano ballon★★★★★2 weeks ago

Triangle Radiant Barrier did an amazing job on my crawl space encapsulation. I shopped around with more than six contractors, and these guys were hands-down the most professional and knowledgeable. They took the time to explain everything and gave me several options to fit my situation. Jason and Marty knocked out the installation in just one day and did fantastic work. And huge shoutout to Ignacio — the spray foam looks great and he clearly takes pride in his craft. Couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend this team!

Mariah King★★★★★a month ago

We were experiencing a number of crawl space issues, and the team was incredibly supportive and patient throughout the entire process. They took the time to explain what was going on and were thorough even in the more challenging areas of our crawl space—some spots were close to 18 inches. Everyone was respectful of us, our property and our chickens, which we really appreciated. Marty and Brian were two team members we had the chance to speak with directly, and both were professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. They made a tough project feel manageable, and we’re grateful for their care and attention to detail. Highly recommend this team for anyone needing crawl space work done right.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this company! First, their price was unbeatable (we got five quotes). Second, their commitment to customer satisfaction was truly exceptional. We hired them to encapsulate our crawlspace—they installed a new vapor barrier, removed the old floor insulation, added foam board on the walls, installed a dehumidifier, and more. When the dehumidifier produced a slight humming sound, the owner came out multiple times to make sure it wasn’t bothering us. They even added extra insulation to reduce the noise—at no additional cost. It’s rare to find a company that combines great pricing with outstanding service. I give them an A++ and would recommend them without hesitation!

We wanted to seal the crawlspace of our new house in September, and I contacted five different companies to come out and give me quotes. There are a variety of techniques out there (encapsulated, HVAC open/closed, dehumidifier or not, etc) which was difficult to navigate. Chris from Livegreen came out and explained their process thoroughly yet simply, sharing pictures of what to expect as he explained. As well as being the most competitive price, we decided that the Livegreen method sounded like the one with the least amount of hassle/maintenance (no dehumidifier maintenance). The week before we moved in, Livegreen came by and cleaned out the crawlspace and sealed it. The team was professional and friendly and did a fantastic job. The crawlspace looks great and 3+ months on we are very happy with it. It is so nice to have a clean, sealed space under the house if you have the unfortunate need to go crawling around in there (our plumbers were very happy too). It supposedly helps with electricity bills as well, but of course we have no prior bills to compare it to. Nonetheless, we happily recommend the Livegreen team!

J Taylor★★★★★5 months ago

Chris from Live Green just came out to inspect my crawl space. I was sure it had mold and standing water (as another company told me last week). Chris said he found no mold, no water. He talked with me at length and said that our home does not need work in the crawl space. He was the most honest, knowledgeable, helpful person. Use this company. Tell your friends!

Estiven and Martin were great to work with, had my attic and second floor walls done with spray foam and they encapsulated my crawlspace too. Left everything clean. would recommend.

Martin Martinez, Estiven Melgar, Grease Melgar and their entire team did a superior job on the spray form in my attic roof and attic walls. First and only estimate that I received. No need to waste my time getting more estimates after their quote. They came out the same week and did the entire job in a long 12 hour day. Nice cleanup in the attic and even vacuumed the grass area outside once they finished. A superior work quality and work ethic. A +++ to their entire team. I highly recommend General NC Insulation LLC for all your spray foam needs. A ++++++ I would hire again for other houses with no hesitation. A+++++

I needed four services from EcoMaster: 1) install insulation on the rim joist of the crawlspace so that our encapsulated crawlspace would pass inspection, 2) install a crawlspace dehumidifier and 3) install the dehumidifier controller in the living space of our home. From my first meeting with Jonathan, I felt confident about EcoMaster. The crew that installed the insulation on the rim joist did a superb job. It passed inspection on the first try. EcoMaster provided one of the best rated crawlspace dehumidifiers on the market which I had extensively researched. They installed and set up the dehumidifier which is working properly now some months later. Danielle in the office always responds in a timely manner. If I were to need more work of the type EcoMaster offers, I would definitely use them again.

Jonathan and his crews did a great job sealing and insulating my OLD attic. They did an energy audit pre- and post- improvements and WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! They also cleared out my crawlspace and completely replaced the vapor barrier. They worked diligently without taking breaks. Even though the job took longer than expected (as is often the case with older houses) they maintained their composure and provided high quality work. I'm extremely pleased with their work and would highly recommend them.

David Martin Ungaro★★★★★8 years ago

John, and his team did an outstanding job with the full attic encapsulation at my house. We chose the spray-foam application and it's made a huge difference in the comfort of the home. The EcoMaster team was consistently responsive in pre-contract questions over the phone and email, responding quickly and completely offering all the information we needed. During the job they were always on-time, courteous, and extremely professional. They cleaned up well after themselves and made sure the job was done RIGHT. When there was a minor issue they encountered, they resolved it promptly without me having to say a word. I definitely recommend EcoMaster. They did a great job for us.

We have a walk-up attic in our house, and it contains an HVAC unit. Over time I became concerned that the items we were storing in the attic would overheat and dry rot. We also had a problem with bugs getting in, and I began reading about how the efficiency of our HVAC unit wasn't what it could be, with the unit and most of the duct work sitting in very hot or very cold air. Foam seemed like the answer. I contacted MPI Foam and met Scott, who gave me an estimate that was very clear and straightforward. He listed the square footage of wall and the square footage of ceiling, and then the invoice was based on the charge per square foot for both. We went back and forth over email about the various options I had for fireproofing, etc. I ended up going with a 9 inch treatment, covered in fireproof (resistant?) paint. The guys that came to do the job were very nice, and thorough. They got my entire attic done in one day. Two days later the painters came and put on the fireproof paint. The job was very well done, but as with most things it wasn't perfect. I emailed Scott about some issues and he made everything right. I had already paid, and he still made everything right. He didn't even ask me to write this review. MPI just stands by their work. I wholeheartedly recommend this company, as they care about the quality of their work, and they made sure I was 100% happy with the job they did. I don't think I could have reasonably asked for more.

MPI Foam is legit. These folks know their trade inside and out. Consummate professionals. I am a GC here in the triangle and have relied on Scott and hos crew for many years. They do great work!

John Balog★★★★★2 months ago

We tried rolled and blown insulation in our raised ranch attic. We then added a large whole house attic fan. Nothing helped during the hot, Raleigh summers. Two weeks ago we went to the Home show at the fairgrounds and met Shane, with MPI Foam. He explained what his company could do. Last week we had a team crawl into the attic and physically roll up and vacuum out all the insulation. This is an attic you can only crawl in, what a terrible task! They did a great job! The next day, the spray team went in and sprayed the foam, how they did it, I don’t know. The results are great. Our house is much cooler now and will be warmer this winter. Very pleased.

Tri City did a great job on our attic. They showed up on time, put down plastic and protective measures, and were finished quickly. The installation team asked me to check their work and made some final touch ups and were done quickly! Great experience all around.

Had spray foam and crawlspace plastic installed. Worked with Brian and Nathan. Both were great to work with. Plenty of communication back and forth. Nathan did a really nice job cutting in the plastic around the piers. Would recommend them.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Raleigh

These are the questions Raleigh homeowners ask most about spray foam cost, R-value, and open- vs. closed-cell foam — with context for local pricing and roughly 33% typical energy savings. Compare the 12 verified Raleigh contractors above for exact quotes.

Is spray foam insulation a good investment in Raleigh?
For homes in mixed-humid climates like Raleigh, NC, spray foam is typically an excellent investment. The combination of hot summers, cold winters, and significant humidity means your home faces insulation challenges year-round. Spray foam addresses all three — providing thermal insulation in both seasons while controlling moisture infiltration. Most homeowners in NC see payback periods of 4–7 years. As with any tight building envelope, ensure your home has adequate mechanical ventilation to manage interior moisture.
How does humidity affect spray foam insulation performance in Raleigh?
In mixed-humid climates like Raleigh, NC, moisture management is as important as thermal performance. Closed-cell spray foam acts as a Class II vapor retarder, preventing moisture from infiltrating walls and attics where it causes mold and structural damage. This dual function — insulation plus moisture control — is why spray foam outperforms traditional insulation options in NC's climate. However, because the building envelope becomes tightly sealed, proper mechanical ventilation is strongly recommended to allow interior moisture from daily activities to escape without losing conditioned air.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost in Raleigh, NC?
In Raleigh, NC and the surrounding area, spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your home's specifics. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic in Raleigh costs $2,000–$6,000. Most Raleigh homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor in Raleigh, NC?
When searching for a spray foam contractor in Raleigh, NC, look for ones who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified Raleigh contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors in Raleigh for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
