We had a great experience with David, Chaya and Winner insulation. Our house is massively more efficient following replacing fiberglass with open-cell spray foam in the attic spaces. Liked working with David on the project and will use them again for our garage. Plus, we can use parts of our attic and we don't have any fiberglass blowing around up there.

I live in silver spring, MD and had my home insulated air tight by winners insulation (from start to finish I’ll give the service double five star ⭐️ ⭐️) The team from Winners insulation (that did the foam spraying) were outstanding!! 👍 at their level of professionalism demonstrated, they were clean, organized, tidy, and extremely respectful of my home and time. I also have to mention, very cautious and friendly and their equipments were too notch !! They finished on record time and left the home spotless !! As if nothing happened !!(From a very critical person like me, they were excellent, you don’t get service like that anymore) I will alway recommend their services

David and his team were highly professional from start to finish. They were very thorough, had extreme attention to detail, and made sure the project was handled with care. The quality of spray foam they used is excellent. It holds internal temp very well, and doesn’t have a funky odor like other brands. They finished the project on schedule, left the house clean, and made sure inspection was passed. The service level you get with Winner Insulation is unmatched. They provide a much more tailored and personalized service than some of the bigger names in the area (DeVere Insulation). Highly recommended them, and I will certainly be a returning customer for future projects!

Great experience with Josh and the Western Cary crew. After a job went sideways with another insulation provider, Josh came in, gave me an estimate and got the job done in time for drywall! All around a holiday. Josh has a "can do" attitude and is great to work with. I highly recommend him and the company!

Met with Toby to get an estimate on attic insulation. He got an estimate out in a few days. Install only took about 1 1/2 hours, workers did a fine job of cleaning up when they were done. My renter said they noticed an improvement in the warmth of the house almost immediately. I would definitely recommend Western Cary for insulation.

Moisés and his team did a wonderful job removing my ancient insulation, installing new insulation, and putting up new drywall. They were professional, expert, efficient, and friendly. What they accomplished in 2.5 days is amazing. My interactions with Yaw for getting an estimate and setting up the contract and with Ana for scheduling were also the perfect mix of professional and friendly. I highly recommend Terra Insulation!

Great service and really easy to work with. From the in home consult to the day of the job, they were very reliable and walked me through the process so I knew what was going on. Never got the feeling they were just trying to make a buck, they came across as genuinely wanting to help. Very knowledgeable on the science and what is needed. They recommended what I felt was appropriate and made sense. After they completed the work I noticed a difference and was more comfortable on the second floor. Energy costs went down as well so win-win! Highly recommended and would certainly do buisness with them again.

Terra did an energy audit of my house, made the improvements after the blower test was performed, worked with me to explain the details of what WA’s important and why, and came back to inspect the work to confirm home tightness. I would highly recommend them. Fast, professional and a reasonable price.

Awesome Company. They are efficient and everyone is extremely delightful to work with. I had my new home insulated with them, and it felt more like a Partnership compared to being just a contractor. If there were 6 stars, they deserve 7!

We got several different bids for different types of insulation products for our 1500+ square foot attic in North Bethesda, but Dennis Wilston of USI Carroll was by far the most professional and knowledgeable rep we met with. From the onset, he was thorough in his inspection, and patient with all of our questions. His quote was fair and even though we had to wait several weeks for our appointment, it was totally worth it. His crew did an amazing job airsealing and insulating the entire space. And left their work are perfectly spotless. The Montgomery County inspector even commented on how great a job Dennis' crew did. I just recommended this company to my neighbor and would not hesitate to call Dennis again. He is fantastic to work with and very old school in that he actually cares, and gives great service!

I was shopping around for alternative insulation options, and they gave me so much of their time and advice without ever pressuring me to buy from them or pay for their services. And even encouraging me to reach out to the other local suppliers. If they are willing to devote that much time to you just on a phone call with such great customer service, this is very telling of their great service overall. Very pleased!

I cannot believe what a difference the insulation has made in my house!! There used to be a tremendous draft coming into the kitchen from the laundry area off the kitchen which was over a crawl space. As soon as the insulation was put in the draft was gone! I can't wait to see my next electric bill to see how much lower it is going to be. Thank you so much for such a fine job.

I've been a homeowner for 21 years. In all that time, I have used dozens of contractors for renovation, HVAC, roofing, electrical, plumbing, etc. I can now add Dan Smallenbroek as only the third contractor/consultant that I trust implicitly to that list. Prior to working with Dan, I received an estimate from another highly regarded insulation company for attic encapsulation. In fact, that company's name was the only one I had heard from anyone I asked about potential insulation companies. The salesman was knowledgeable, but had a one size fits all approach. This other guy didn't try to understand what I was trying to accomplish and just kept telling me that trying anything else would not work. I called Accurate Insulation to get a second estimate to see if it jived with the competitor's. I explained to Dan that I thought I already had a good company with a reasonable quote but wanted to make sure I was getting what I really wanted. Dan promised to come out, survey my attic, and give an honest recommendation. With his help and collaboration, I picked a system that worked for finishing an attic. He spent a significant amount of time educating me about R values, the difference between blown in, fiberglass, open and closed cell insulation, and the rebates and tax credits for which I was potentially eligible. He was never pushy and not for a second did I feel that he was trying to upsell. The energy audit ended up getting me a 35% rebate which Dan facilitated on the front side. He also gave me the resources to help me apply for a federal tax credit which means the final cost for the entire insulation project will be a whopping 50% off Accurate's quoted price. This doesn't mean others will have the same result, but it's nice learning ahead of time what your all-in cost will be instead after the fact when you're not eligible anymore. The energy audit process means that everything takes more time, but it also means you'll probably make a better informed decision at a fraction of what a job actually costs. It's 91 degrees oustide right now. My HVAC unit currently sits in conditioned air space at 74 instead of 130 degrees and we're in the process of having the attic finished off as an office for my wife. I'd be remiss in not saying Accurate's energy auditor, Mike Sears, spent an extra 90 minutes post-audit going over problem areas in my house and offering his own insights for improving energy efficiency. The encapsulation reduced air flow loss by 31% which has to translate to lower heating and cooling costs going forward. If you're considering insulating your attic, I can not recommend Dan Smallenbroek and his crew with Accurate Insulation highly enough. Much obliged - Kevin & Diann

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Bethesda

These are the questions Bethesda homeowners ask most about spray foam cost, R-value, and open- vs. closed-cell foam — with context for local pricing and roughly 33% typical energy savings. Compare the 6 verified Bethesda contractors above for exact quotes.

Is spray foam insulation a good investment in Bethesda?▼
For homes in mixed-humid climates like Bethesda, MD, spray foam is typically an excellent investment. The combination of hot summers, cold winters, and significant humidity means your home faces insulation challenges year-round. Spray foam addresses all three — providing thermal insulation in both seasons while controlling moisture infiltration. Most homeowners in MD see payback periods of 4–7 years. As with any tight building envelope, ensure your home has adequate mechanical ventilation to manage interior moisture.
How does humidity affect spray foam insulation performance in Bethesda?▼
In mixed-humid climates like Bethesda, MD, moisture management is as important as thermal performance. Closed-cell spray foam acts as a Class II vapor retarder, preventing moisture from infiltrating walls and attics where it causes mold and structural damage. This dual function — insulation plus moisture control — is why spray foam outperforms traditional insulation options in MD's climate. However, because the building envelope becomes tightly sealed, proper mechanical ventilation is strongly recommended to allow interior moisture from daily activities to escape without losing conditioned air.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?▼
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost in Bethesda, MD?▼
In Bethesda, MD and the surrounding area, spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your home's specifics. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic in Bethesda costs $2,000–$6,000. Most Bethesda homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?▼
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?▼
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor in Bethesda, MD?▼
When searching for a spray foam contractor in Bethesda, MD, look for ones who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified Bethesda contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors in Bethesda for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?▼
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?▼
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
