Hey Koala just removed the old Cellulose insulation that was in our 50 year old house and replaced it with “White as snow “ blown in fiberglass that is 20 inches deep. It looks fluffy, but like one of the installers said, “ you would not want to roll in it”. This company and its people are friendly & professional, all well trained in customer service… Great communication from start to finish, I will be telling all my friends about Koala. Thanks from, Dan&Vicki - Stilwell, Kansas 11/19/25

What a wonderful experience! Excellent communication and overall a very professional outfit. They jumped on our project very quickly and left our 20x30 out building looking great! Would highly recommend Koala.

Great experience with Koala Insulation! They went above and beyond to do old insulation removal and new insulation placement, answering questions, and addressing special circumstances in my attic. The time between providing estimate and project completion was smooth and expeditious. Appreciate their excellence! Five star rating!

First, many thanks to Dan, who really listened to our needs and captured key details in our proposal. Next, Brian and Ben worked on our attic insulation/re-insulation project. It is a very large space with several unique features. They worked methodically and diligently as a team. Both were experts in all phases of the job (air sealing, insulation wrapping, soffitt vent baffles/blocking, blowing new cellulose and extending all bath exhaust tubes to existing roof vents). They were efficient, professional and delivered exceptional results! I also want to mention Jason and CJ who were assigned to build a long walkway the length of the attic to allow easy access from the access point above the garage to the bath exhaust fans mentioned above. They asked for my input, brought quality materials and created a sturdy and safe walkway so we can maintain our home into the future. They coordinated well with Brian and Ben throughout the two-day project. We have used Hayes Insulation in the past and are truly pleased with the overall results this time, too!

I recenty changed my wood burning fireplace into a gas on. David helped me decide on the Canyon Lava log set and Julio installed them. I could not be more pleased. I shopped several places and these gentlemen offered great service and a good price. I am so happy!

Sean and his team (Caleb, Dillon, Mark, and Luke) did a great job insulating our home, as they went above and beyond what we expected. It felt like they were family, the way they were taking extra care to do everything "just right", as if it were their own home they were working on. They were super friendly and very knowledgeable, suggesting things I hadn't even considered. They took many pictures, before and after, for our reference and peace of mind. They even let me take their electric motor bike for a spin. :) Highly recommended.

The team were very professional in redoing my attic insulation. We started off with a R value in the 19-20 range and ended in the R48-49 range. First they foam sealed all the gaps from the attic to the living floor and then followed it with piping in the new installation. Photos were taken of before and after and provided for comparison and a blower door test was ran to confirm. Would definitely recommend this business. They took great care of my home and picked up / vacuumed all the mess. In February 2025, had them in again to seal the basement and replace the insulation with foam. Again a great job, would highly recommend them for energy efficiency improvements.

Had several quotes for insulating my attic and Green Improvement Consulting came in at the best price. Not only that, they were easy to work with, did a fantastic job, and had exceptional customer service. The crew the day of were very polite and friendly. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Would highly recommend.

A+ Spray Foam of Olathe insulated my attic, and it’s been the best home upgrade I’ve made. My home stays so much cooler in the summer, and the energy savings are already noticeable. The team was professional, quick, and left the space spotless!

Melanie Morgan★★★★★2 years ago

A+ insulated two new additions in my home. A Plus Spray Foam in Olathe was there within 24 hours of our call for an estimate. The price was very good. We are grateful to have found a reputable and experienced company that could handle our large project. We would use them again.

A Plus Spray Foam Olathe installed additional insulation in our attic around November 2022. They arrived promptly after I contacted him to assess the attic and give an estimate. The two gentlemen that did the work were on time, friendly, knowledgeable, and able to answer all questions when needed. The payment process was handled professionally. This company is an excellent choice for anyone searching for similar services.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Kansas City

These are the questions Kansas City homeowners ask most about spray foam cost, R-value, and open- vs. closed-cell foam — with context for local pricing and roughly 35% typical energy savings. Compare the 4 verified Kansas City contractors above for exact quotes.

How much can spray foam insulation save on heating and cooling bills in Kansas City?
Homeowners in mixed climates like Kansas City, MO typically see 20–30% reductions in total energy costs after spray foam installation. The savings come from both reduced heating in winter and reduced cooling in summer. The exact savings depend on your home's current insulation, size, and local energy rates, but most homeowners recoup the investment within 3–6 years.
Is spray foam better than fiberglass insulation for homes in Kansas City?
For most homes in Kansas City, MO, spray foam outperforms fiberglass significantly. Fiberglass batts insulate but do not air seal — meaning conditioned air still escapes through gaps. Spray foam both insulates and creates an airtight seal, addressing the root cause of energy loss. While spray foam costs more upfront, the performance difference in mixed climates makes it the better long-term investment for most homeowners.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost in Kansas City, MO?
In Kansas City, MO and the surrounding area, spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your home's specifics. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic in Kansas City costs $2,000–$6,000. Most Kansas City homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor in Kansas City, MO?
When searching for a spray foam contractor in Kansas City, MO, look for ones who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified Kansas City contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors in Kansas City for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
