Sal and his team are excellent. great communication, reasonable price, professional of what they do. I hired them for adding close-cell spray foam to my concrete crawlspace walls and rim joist. Sal took the time and explained the type of services he offers and recommend what's really necessary - not bare min. but decent enough to be done within my budget. i got several quotes before him and felt he was being honest and I was happy to move forward with them. turned out, the project went smoothly and completed everything listed on the quote. also, his team cleaned up the work area nicely. I would strongly recommend Solar Spray Foam Insulation Inc, Sal and his team for any insulation project. get insulated, lower down energy cost, better air quality and seal out the draft and critters.(fyi, for spray foam, it is recommended to not to occupied the house for at least 24hrs same for any contractor)

I couldn't be more impressed with Sal and his guys from Solar Spray Foam Insulation. From the start, Sal couldn't have been nicer, more informative or more helpful. He explained what he proposed to do and why very clearly. And they did an amazing job removing the old insulation from my attic and putting new insulation in. The whole team was very pleasant and polite, they worked really hard, they did the job quickly, and they cleaned up impeccably after they were finished. On top of all that, the price was extremely reasonable. If you need old insulation removed and/or new insulation installed, you can't do better than Sal and Solar Spray Foam Insulation. I'd give them 10 stars if I could!

Sal is great! I prefer texting when it comes to communication and he obliges. He was very flexible with scheduling the insulation and upfront on what avenues we should take. Pricing was very fair and competitive as well. Can't recommend him enough!

Mike along with his install and painting crews have done a great job for us over the past year replacing 25 windows for us. We went from 100 yr old windows that were not functional to new Marvin Ultimates (casements, picture/fixed, and double hung). We are very happy with how they look, the energy benefits and now we have windows that actually open. The design ideas we had in mind became a reality. Another benefit of Schmidt is their custom paint shop, no other vendor I had quotes from offered that, so Mike was able to match our paint & save us the time from doing it ourselves. Great price and value. Highly recommend. Thank you. Here's some before & after pictures.

We had a great experience with Schmidt Exteriors. Communication was great from start to finish! Reasonable price and quality work! We had our porch enclosed with several large windows. One of the windows was curved at the top and several window manufacturers could not build the window. Mike worked extra hard by coming out several times to draw a hand template of the window. He got the window built and it is gorgeous. Work was done on time and as scheduled. Excellent job all around from Mike, Susan, the installers, and painters. The windows and doors on our enclosed porch exceeded our expectations.

Mike and his team are entirely professional and committed to excellence. We had a preliminary 17-window project at a 100 year old church building that went better than anything we could have hoped for. Schmidt Exteriors will be our first call when we move to phase 2 of the project.

Have used Chicagoland Sprayfoam multiple times for various projects. They’re honest, respectful of clients needs and thorough with their work. Would definitely use again. They’re extremely busy but worth the wait IMO.

Called a few times and left a message but no answer. Drove to the address from Northbrook because it says they close at 6pm and I arrive to a residence. No business advertisement and no answer at the door.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Batavia

These are the questions Batavia homeowners ask most about spray foam cost, R-value, and open- vs. closed-cell foam — with context for local pricing and roughly 35% typical energy savings. Compare the 4 verified Batavia contractors above for exact quotes.

How much can spray foam insulation save on heating and cooling bills in Batavia?▼
Homeowners in mixed climates like Batavia, IL typically see 20–30% reductions in total energy costs after spray foam installation. The savings come from both reduced heating in winter and reduced cooling in summer. The exact savings depend on your home's current insulation, size, and local energy rates, but most homeowners recoup the investment within 3–6 years.
Is spray foam better than fiberglass insulation for homes in Batavia?▼
For most homes in Batavia, IL, spray foam outperforms fiberglass significantly. Fiberglass batts insulate but do not air seal — meaning conditioned air still escapes through gaps. Spray foam both insulates and creates an airtight seal, addressing the root cause of energy loss. While spray foam costs more upfront, the performance difference in mixed climates makes it the better long-term investment for most homeowners.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?▼
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost in Batavia, IL?▼
In Batavia, IL and the surrounding area, spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your home's specifics. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic in Batavia costs $2,000–$6,000. Most Batavia homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?▼
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?▼
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor in Batavia, IL?▼
When searching for a spray foam contractor in Batavia, IL, look for ones who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified Batavia contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors in Batavia for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?▼
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?▼
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
