Had our whole attic sprayed. The difference between the white fluffy insulation and the spray insulation is like night and day. We had this done in Dec while the temps dropped to 32° and our heater barely kicked in. With our old stuff, the heater would be working all night. The crew was clean and quick. Job done right. What more can I say?

John Peavy was the sales representative and he was so knowledgeable and friendly. He was patient and took his time explaining the benefits of the new windows. He showed us the rough shape of our old ones as well and did a great demo of all the parts that are included with the new ones. We really appreciated the time he spent.

Nick and his Family installed my patio cover. I cant think him enough for the professional job they all did paying close attention to details. He went far beyond my expectations to customize many improvements. Can't think him enough. Great work.

My experience with CAT Exrerios has been phenomenal. From meeting and speaking to Peter, to chris taking control of the project, to the install team and how efficient they installed these beautiful windows. They left my home clean and I am very happy with all the efforts put into my home. Chris came by. Checked out the install, and now I have an appointment to start our next project together, which will be a new patio.

Great prices. Showed up on time and were done in just a few hours. Went above and beyond for us. Support the small business over the bell brother and junk.

Jose Ruiz and his team were great at replacing our attic insulation. Responsive to my texts, was able to accommodate our schedule as well as other vendors, and finished the job as promised. He was also able to send photos as requested.

Very happy with the work Ruiz did for us (removal of old insulation, sealing, and blowing new cellulose up to R49). Of the 3 quotes we obtained from different companies, his was by far the most competitive (and without the pressure from the others - Atticman and Clark & Rush). Even going up to R49 to qualify for federal tax incentives was significantly less than the standard R38 from others (by almost 40%). When they had leftover materials at the end, without even any awareness / asking on my part, they revised the estimate to be even lower than the original - this sort of honesty is hard to find nowadays. Overall extremely happy with the care they took and the value of this technically difficult job and would highly recommend.

We recently had our house rewired and the company doing it subcontracted with ace insulation to remove the attic insulation and blow it back in after. I was impressed with the care the workers took to clean up afterwards and to lay down protective material to protect our floors. They were polite and did the work well. I'd recommend them.

Two excellent teams to complete the attic insulation. Julio, Arbeno, and Wilzon took out the old insulation. And Neptali and Isidro blown in the fiberglass insulation. Neptali is very helpful, meticulous and knowledgeable in making sure everything is properly sealed for the installation. Thank you for a job well done by both teams.

Excellent service from the 1st phone call. They were right on time, professional and extremely polite. They cleaned up everything when they were done, and the best part is that I could tell a difference in the temperature in my house immediately!! I work remotely and normally my heater turns on and off all day but today my house has stayed at a steady temp and my heater has not come on for hours. On top of all that they had the best price in town.

We were very satisfied with the professional and efficient services of Gold Star Insulation. The staff was courteous and careful from the removol process through the seal, santize and blowing of the new insulation. They put dropcloths everywhere to protect our floors, and they cleaned up everything very well. The removal crew alerted us to a roof leak, which we fixed prior to the installation of the new insulation. We highly recommend their service.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Sacramento

These are the questions Sacramento homeowners ask most about spray foam cost, R-value, and open- vs. closed-cell foam — with context for local pricing and roughly 27% typical energy savings. Compare the 12 verified Sacramento contractors above for exact quotes.

Does spray foam insulation work well in hot dry climates like Sacramento?
Yes — spray foam is highly effective in hot dry climates like Sacramento, CA. While moisture control is less of a concern than in humid climates, the air sealing properties are critical for keeping hot desert air out and cooled air in. In extreme heat climates, an unsealed attic can reach 150°F+, dramatically increasing AC load. Spray foam in the attic can reduce attic temperatures by 30–40°F.
What is the best area of my home to insulate in Sacramento?
In hot dry climates like Sacramento, CA, the attic is typically the highest-impact area to spray foam insulate. Desert sun heats roofs to extreme temperatures, and an uninsulated attic transfers that heat directly into your living space. After the attic, crawl spaces and rim joists are the next highest-impact areas. A local contractor can perform an energy audit to identify where your home loses the most conditioned air.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost in Sacramento, CA?
In Sacramento, CA and the surrounding area, spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your home's specifics. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic in Sacramento costs $2,000–$6,000. Most Sacramento homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor in Sacramento, CA?
When searching for a spray foam contractor in Sacramento, CA, look for ones who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified Sacramento contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors in Sacramento for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
