I'll tell you these guys were awesome. They came in and made the plastic clean tunnel and got to work. Im sorry I did not get the names of the 3 men here but they all were very professional. Im very happy with the work and they cleaned up nicely after co.pletion and gave us the house back the way it was given. Thank you Matan

We had the AtticGuard team come out to our senior community home near Carmel Mountain, and they did an excellent job replacing our insulation and rodent proofing the house. The team was professional, efficient, and very respectful throughout the entire process. The quality of the work was outstanding, and everything was completed cleanly and on schedule. We are very happy with the results and highly recommend AtticGuard. Several of our neighbors have already chosen to work with them after seeing the work done on our home, and they had the same great experience. Thank you to the AtticGuard team and Matan for a job very well done.

We have been fighting mice/rats for a couple months now and pest control companies would only set traps in our attic and dispose of dead rodents. The time finally came to address the root issue and I am so thankful to have found attic guard just from a random google search! They went beyond my expectations in terms of professionalism, friendliness, and thoroughness. We saw videos and pictures of previous jobs and will be receiving photos/videos of our before/after in a few days. I visibly saw with my own eyes what a transformation the cleaning and rodent proofing service did. The pricing was very reasonable given the insulation replacement, sealing of cracks, duct cleaning, house perimeter sealing, and promptness. We met and had service the very next day. I feel confident enough to sleep in my attic now (if I had to). I have NEVER done business with professionals at the level of service these guys provide, seriously they set the bar for what it means to be professionals. Thank you so much attic guard! (I’ll upload photos once we receive them for sure!)

I am finishing up a permitted construction project to my house in Carmel Valley. While I put some insulation in myself in order to close some sheer walls I wasn't sure I wanted to tackle the whole project. Plus I couldn't find high R-value (17/38) material at the typical big box stores. A day after I contacted JC they showed up and walked the project. Some new construction, some old. I told them I needed to max out the R Value for Title 24 purposes, and my own comfort/utility bills. They let me know the max R Value for stud/joist size, a total of four different sizes. When I got the proposal I asked about Faced insulation and JC gave me an option for Faced, or a metallic sheet vapor barrier. I took the latter. The total price was pretty great for what I asked for, and their supplier seems to undercut the big box prices for material. I returned some bails I had bought retail. Besides the R Value and price being the draw, these guys are just so personable and genuine. I actually wanted to give them the work. So many of the contractors on my project have unique challenges to work with them, it was pretty awesome JC didn't play those games. I gotta give a shout out to the installer too. I am doing a variety of work myself when not too much skill is needed as I'm pretty good at several trades, but what the installer did in six or so hours would have been a painstaking week for me, and my outcome would not have been so well done. Great people, great work, great price. I researched others, I think you should call JC too. Just good people.

They were very fast to respond with an inspection to service. Great price and customer services from Elliott and Christine. Great crew with Justin as a leader who came on time and worked hard all day. John came quickly to inspect and follow up after the service. Everything went very smoothly and I feel so good to know that my attic is clean! Thank you for explaining about tax credit and answer ing all the questions I had, Elliot.

After getting several quotes, I decided to go with Attic Shield for my attic insulation project—and I’m so glad I did. From start to finish, the entire process was smooth and stress-free. The team was on time, worked efficiently, and showed great attention to detail. They took before-and-after photos, explained everything clearly and even cleaned up better than they found it. What really stood out was how honest and transparent they were—no surprise charges, no upselling. Just solid, reliable service. My home is noticeably more comfortable now, and I already feel the difference in indoor temperature. I highly recommend Attic Shield to anyone looking for quality insulation work done the right way.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Escondido

Does spray foam insulation work well in hot dry climates like Escondido?
Yes — spray foam is highly effective in hot dry climates like Escondido, CA. While moisture control is less of a concern than in humid climates, the air sealing properties are critical for keeping hot desert air out and cooled air in. In extreme heat climates, an unsealed attic can reach 150°F+, dramatically increasing AC load. Spray foam in the attic can reduce attic temperatures by 30–40°F.
What is the best area of my home to insulate in Escondido?
In hot dry climates like Escondido, CA, the attic is typically the highest-impact area to spray foam insulate. Desert sun heats roofs to extreme temperatures, and an uninsulated attic transfers that heat directly into your living space. After the attic, crawl spaces and rim joists are the next highest-impact areas. A local contractor can perform an energy audit to identify where your home loses the most conditioned air.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost?
Spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your location. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic costs $2,000–$6,000. Most homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor?
Look for contractors who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
