Spray Foam Insulation in Ann Arbor, MI

I got attic insulation (blown in cellulose + some foam on knee walls) done with Koala and am very satisfied with the outcomes. Bob, the technician who came to do our inspection and managed the insulation install, was phenomenal. Of all the various inspections and quotes I got, Bob was the most thorough, pointed out things that needed to be improved, benefits/risks of various solutions, and potential challenges in completing the project. He educated me and provided the most realistic timeline for completing the project well. Bob recognized what others missed and was correct with needs and timeline, considering the home and anatomy of our attic. Greg, the owner, and his wife, were also spectacular and able to fit us into their schedule within a week! On top of it all, they were very complementary of other locally owned companies but ultimately offered me the best quote for the most thorough work - very reasonably priced and excellent work.

We had our attic re-insulated earlier this spring, and now that it's been both hot and cold I can say that Koala did a fantastic job. They were very knowledgeable, friendly, and transparent about the entire process including the cost breakdown. They did an excellent job removing old, worn out insulation and blowing in new cellulose (along with filling any and all gaps with sealer and installing baffles) in out 1960's attic space. Now the old side of the house, compared to the newer addition, is more comfortable! I can't recommend Koala more highly, and I would happily call on them in the future.

Niko does great work at competitive prices. He did closed cell spray foam in several places plus blown-in cellulose in our attic. I asked a lot of questions before the job, and he was very patient and took the time to explain everything. Great communicator. We are happy with the result. 100% recommend.

I can't recommend these guys enough, they did an awesome job. Our house is about 150 years old, has had multiple additions, and was a neglected rental for many years so no project is ever straightforward. Niko the owner came out and happily went into both attics to give us a very reasonable quote and answered all of my questions about cellulose, spray foam, and attic ventilation. With the spray foam we had to leave while it cured, so I just gave him my keys which is a lot of trust in a stranger. These guys were super knowledgeable and professional, made the whole process easy, took a bunch of before and after photos, and even vacuumed before they left. We had the roofing contractor come out to take care of some vents and he agreed that they did a great job with the insulation and putting in the baffles and plugs so we can add extra intakes. Anyway, I've been putting this project off for four years and I'm glad it worked out so well thanks to Thermal Building Solutions! ✨

We had a new roof installed after 25 years and decided to upgrade our attic insulation. I researched multiple companies but was so impressed with the information regarding the different types of insulation, the timeliness, and the personal attention of the owner Niko, that we chose his company. He came over and surveyed our attic, described our options and quoted us a very reasonable price for the work to done. He promptly scheduled an appointment and had his staff come to our home in under two weeks. They were fast and efficient, and did a great job cleaning up the involved area. The work was done in March 2025. In June 2025 I came across an opportunity to apply for a Home Energy Rebate. This offer required an invoice with very specific details. I contacted Niko to ask if would send me a revised invoice with the necessary information. He promptly and graciously took the time from his busy schedule to help me out. Niko and his company are truly outstanding with excellent work, stellar service and affordable prices. I give my highest recommendation for Thermal Building Solutions!

After a kitchen remodel on our ~1950s home, we found ice forming on the tops of some of our recessed lighting cans in the attic during winter, meaning we did not have good insulation and air flow in our attic. We had both Home Depot and Spink come out and quote us on adding insulation and fixing air flow problems (installing baffles, clearing insulation from soffit vents). Both quotes were almost dead-on pricewise (within $10), but Spink's quote included more insulation, getting us to minimum R50 in our attic, whereas HD was less. Additionally, Spink was able to schedule the job within a week, whereas HD was booking 2+ weeks out. Finally, Spink also offered to do and submit the paperwork for DTE rebates, which is a nice bonus. The installers arrived and got right to the job. Joe got into our attic, poked around for a few minutes, and immediately explained everything, in intricate detail, to my wife and I. What they were going to do, the air flow issues they noted, how much insulation they were going to add, etc... They put down drop cloths to protect our newly-refinished hardwood floors, and they were careful to get the worst of snow/salt off their boots when coming inside (it was actively snowing outside). Within about 2 hours, they had completed the job and cleaned up. Again, Joe went through all the details of what they had done, and made sure we were happy. I took a peek up in the attic, and we ultimately ended up with close to 18" of insulation, which is even above R50 (R50 is about 15.5"). We were very happy with Spink, and would definitely recommend them for any insulation job in the Ann Arbor area.

My issue appeared to be an attic insulation issue, but after great listening April realized it was really an air quality issue. She plainly explained what would be best for us. She was clearly knowledgeable. And, while she definitely could have recommended work and made some money off of us, she didn't. She took a bit more of her time to explain what we needed to do and gave some product recommendations. I will always give someone like that 5 stars.

I scheduled April Rue, the owner of Ms. Green Construction to give us a quote on a couple of jobs. She looked at the areas and explained why we should not do them given the needs of the area. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the multiple needs of this complex space and gave us numerous, specific fixes that she would not benefit from. She blew me away and I wanted to leave a review because of that.

April was phenomenal. This company is so honest. They talked me out of the most expensive insulation and told me why less pricey solutions would actually be better for me.
