I had Air Tight Insulators fully insulate my attic, as well as both the first and second floors of my home, and I couldn’t be happier with their work. They were punctual, even arriving a little early and waiting until the scheduled time to start. Throughout the entire process, they were courteous and mindful of my home, taking care to cover all areas they walked through. The team did a fantastic job cleaning up, both inside and outside, making sure no insulation was left behind. Their attention to detail and professionalism were top-notch. I highly recommend Airtight Insulators to anyone looking for quality insulation work done right!

This was my second time working with Air Tight Insulators and, by request, I had Nery and his crew again. Nery and his team are incredible — they are nice, personable, professional, efficient and clean! I was so amazed at how effective they were the first time that I requested them back to do some additional areas of concern. If you’re going to work with ATI, request Nery. He will make sure that everything is meticulously done and done right the first time!!

They were very proactive in reaching out to schedule the appointment, came exactly when expected, and were very knowledgeable. They took great care of my home and kept me informed as they worked. I would recommend them to anyone with home insulation needs!

I hired Sure Seal of NE from a strong recommendation of another excellent local business (Advanced Energy Concepts-Auburn MA) and placed a call to the owner, Francis "Fran" LaPlante. From the first conversation to completion of the project I have been very satisfied with each part of the job. Fran understood my budget and provided several options to consider and the pros and cons of each. Fran and his team showed up on time, were polite, efficient , thorough and clean. For such a sticky and potentially messy material he left my entire house cleaner than when he left. After completing the spraying he went room to room even checking the closets to make sure he didn't leave any stray foam. After inspecting the finished project I was impressed at how uniformed and air tight my attic now was. His quality of work and Professionalism puts him and Sure Seal of NE at the highest level and I recommend them without reservation. Ed Ramsey- Charlton

I just had my home fully insulated through Mass Save and I was skeptical on who they would send to service my home. I was very fortunate to have JM of New Bedford a Weatherization Co. to do the work. To be able to work with Helder and Derrick throughout this process and when I say these gentlemen were true professionals and craftsman at what they do. They took the time to really walk me through everything they were performing on my home. Not only professional at what they do, they also made me feel like I was part of their family and really made sure that the job was done correctly as if it was their own home. The knowledge they bring, definitely showed on the work they performed. JM of New Bedford is for sure on my top 3 companies list, that I would work with again and would recommend them to anyone looking to improve their home. I really hope this review reaches the right people but again, BIG THANKS! to Derrick and Helder for a great experience! -Dev C.

After relocating to a New Bedford fixer-upper, I gave QCC'S Attic Insulation & Roofing Services a call. They didn't let us down, and Tyler came highly recommended. They employed high-quality materials for the insulation. As part of their roofing service, they inspected our roof and found problems we had overlooked. Finally, they thoroughly cleaned our air ducts and dryer vent. The airflow difference was astounding! Among the most expert home services I've ever dealt with. Strongly advised.

Richie’s insulation just installed gutters on our garage in Tiverton and cleaned the house gutters as well. It was a first class experience all the way. Tiffany in the office is a consummate professional who really gets what customer service is all about. The owner (Richie himself!) came to the house to make sure that everything was up to snuff. The installers, Jorge & Derek, were fantastic, very polite, efficient and meticulous. Great company and great experience!

A huge shout out to this business. Three years ago we contracted them to insulate our summer home. This year we moved in year-round. We discovered that an architectural anomaly involving a step down allowed a breach in the enclosure. I made a single call and service was provided. As an engineer that has been engaged in residential, commercial, and industrial projects, this response is of the highest level. Kudos to this company's integrity.

Hired Richie's for a commercial insulation job. Very, very knowledgeable and professional. Showed up on time, worked hard and did it right. I would definitely work with them again and highly recommend these folks.pics are a before and after of one small section.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in New Bedford

How much can spray foam insulation save on heating and cooling bills in New Bedford?
Homeowners in mixed climates like New Bedford, MA typically see 20–30% reductions in total energy costs after spray foam installation. The savings come from both reduced heating in winter and reduced cooling in summer. The exact savings depend on your home's current insulation, size, and local energy rates, but most homeowners recoup the investment within 3–6 years.
Is spray foam better than fiberglass insulation for homes in New Bedford?
For most homes in New Bedford, MA, spray foam outperforms fiberglass significantly. Fiberglass batts insulate but do not air seal — meaning conditioned air still escapes through gaps. Spray foam both insulates and creates an airtight seal, addressing the root cause of energy loss. While spray foam costs more upfront, the performance difference in mixed climates makes it the better long-term investment for most homeowners.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost?
Spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your location. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic costs $2,000–$6,000. Most homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor?
Look for contractors who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
