We recently worked with B-Alpha Construction and had an outstanding experience from start to finish. From day one, Joelle was our main contact and really went above and beyond. Even when equipment issues came up, Joelle adapted quickly, taped off our entire house to get ready for spraying, and even called in a second crew to work late into the evening. They showed up around 3 PM and worked until 11 PM just to keep the project moving forward. That level of dedication was amazing. Josh was another standout. He was here every single day, walking the project with us each morning and again every evening. He explained everything clearly, was incredibly attentive to details, and treated our home with so much respect. He was also wonderful with our kids and even thoughtful enough to help look after our fish during spraying. Truly one of the most respectful and professional contractors we’ve ever worked with. Jose was also fantastic—always smiling, respectful, and meticulous with his work. The entire crew was well-mannered, hardworking, and committed to keeping our house and yard clean throughout the project. Even though the job took a little longer than expected, they consistently put in long hours, showed up early, stayed late, and never compromised on quality. The final results exceeded our expectations. The workmanship, professionalism, and care they showed made the whole experience a positive one. We can’t say enough good things about Joelle, Josh, Jose, and the entire B-Alpha team. We highly recommend B-Alpha Construction to anyone looking for a company that delivers top-quality work with professionalism, respect, and heart.

The B. Alpha team did an outstanding job on our addition. Everyone who showed up worked hard and cleaned up well after themselves. When their spray rig went down (something with the gun) they immediately shifted and had another crew come out the next day to finish up. They ended up using more of the higher performance foam and did not charge me extra for it. It is rare these days to have such a positive experience with a contractor AND also to feel like you are actually getting value for your money. I would recommend them to anyone, anywhere, anytime.

Our home feels more comfortable already, and PNE Attic Insulation & Roofing Services Of Massachusetts installed attic insulation for us, and the results were fantastic. The team sealed leaks, added high-quality insulation, and explained how it would improve energy efficiency. We immediately noticed better temperature control and reduced heating costs. The crew was professional, worked quickly, and left no mess behind. They were respectful of our home and explained everything in detail. The pricing was very reasonable, especially considering the long-term savings. I highly recommend [Company Name] for attic insulation.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Chicopee

How much can spray foam insulation save on heating and cooling bills in Chicopee?
Homeowners in mixed climates like Chicopee, MA typically see 20–30% reductions in total energy costs after spray foam installation. The savings come from both reduced heating in winter and reduced cooling in summer. The exact savings depend on your home's current insulation, size, and local energy rates, but most homeowners recoup the investment within 3–6 years.
Is spray foam better than fiberglass insulation for homes in Chicopee?
For most homes in Chicopee, MA, spray foam outperforms fiberglass significantly. Fiberglass batts insulate but do not air seal — meaning conditioned air still escapes through gaps. Spray foam both insulates and creates an airtight seal, addressing the root cause of energy loss. While spray foam costs more upfront, the performance difference in mixed climates makes it the better long-term investment for most homeowners.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost?
Spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your location. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic costs $2,000–$6,000. Most homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor?
Look for contractors who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
