TLDR: Trustworthy and experienced management. Skilled, courteous, professional workers. Job completed on schedule and within budget. (Remove reinstall attic insulation, encapsulate a crawl space) Very old and dirty insulation in my attic with batting underneath fiberglass that had become brittle and turned to when disturbed. We were experiencing a lot of heat coming through the ceiling of our home during hot sunny summer days. We also have a standing crawlspace underneath one portion of our house that needed insulation and encapsulation. EnergySmith was recommended by Duke electricity along with a couple of other local companies including Koala. I received quotes from both EnergySmith and Koala. Ultimately, I chose EnergySmith because I had absolutely no doubts that I was speaking with an expert. Joe, EnergySmith's owner, is experienced, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to host for initial inspection. There was no pressure from Joe and no attempts at upselling. Prices were reasonable and comparable to Koala. In fairness, Koala seemed just as reputable and caught the same issues with my attic as EnergySmith did - but Koala's salesman, while perfectly trustworthy and knowledgeable, did not have as much experience as Joe. Joe knew much more about older construction (my home was built in the 60s). Joe also told me that EnergySmith is involved in the certification of vendors that Duke recommends. I think that put me over the top. Dillon's team was professional, courteous, and quick. Dillon (Joe's son), was on site working along side his crew and kept me informed throughout the project, making sure I understood where we were in the process, what they were discovering as they removed the old insulation, and why they were doing what they were doing. Dillon took the time to guide me through the attic several times throughout the job to show me rather than just tell me. The crew also cleaned up once the job was completed. During the job, my doorbell camera stopped working. Through no fault of the workers, a wire had been disconnected. The home's previous owner had poorly installed a wire, running from a vintage doorbell chime through the attic, to the doorbell. One of Dillon's workers easily reattached and and reinforced the connection. A less experienced crew might have missed this or been unable or unwilling to repair it. The gentleman also said that every time he and the other workers start a job, the whole team views the house their working on as their own. That's what you want to hear. I'd recommend EnergySmith and I would use them again.

Energy Smith did a great job sealing up air flows in our attic and blowing in insulation! As new home owners, we had lots of things to check off of our to do list and Energy Smith helped put our minds at ease when it came to our attic. They were able to put us ahead in their schedule due to a last minute cancellation, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their flexibility. Their team was friendly and went above and beyond to make sure that our home was ready for cold weather.

We were very pleased with the insulation services provided by Energy Smith Home Performance. They explained everything they would be doing and patiently answered all of our questions. They were prompt on our appointment date and did a complete and thorough job. They also went above and beyond by repairing some duct work that needed addressing. We would gladly use them again.
