Cooper Miller thank you again!! Services was amazing!! Heard about the company from IG with the rebates program that your electric company provider will pay half the cost in rebates and he just explained everything what we will look for with saving energy. All for just $100, he pointed out all a lot of things through testing we would never even know about. Super excited to get this service done and save some money!

We had a great experience with York Home Performance from start to finish. Summer was super helpful over the phone and mad scheduling (and even rescheduling) our appointment really easy. On the day of the audit, Joe arrived right on time, was very professional, and took the time to walk us through everything. He explained the process clearly, showed us his findings, and made sure all our questions were answered. If you're looking to improve your home's efficiency and lower your energy bills, we highly recommend York Home Performance's energy audit service.

I found York Home Performance on Facebook. I was familiar with the home energy audit program through BGE from a former home. York was very friend and got me scheduled for an audit. They gave me a reminder call and text the day before. Cooper came out to do the audit. He was very professional and thorough. He showed me all the areas of my home that they were checking and explained why. They even checked to make sure my furnace was operating efficiently and not emitting to much dangerous carbon monoxide or leaking propane. After the audit he emailed me a whole document with recommendations to improve my home's efficiency. They broke down 3 options good, better and best and told me about rebates and tax credits available. They got me a huge discount (about 75%) using BGE rebates. They collect the rebates directly from BGE so I only have to pay what's left. They even have 1 year 0% financing program available. The BGE rebate program is great and I highly recommend it to everyone. Afterall, you pay for it in every electric bill so you might as well take advantage l. That's what the EmPower Maryland charge is for! I highly recommend that you have York Home Performance do your audit.

Recommended by my dad, who is in demolition, for my asbestos abatement. We finally were able to get our first home in a super competitive market and although we did brace ourselves for some asbestos, we uncovered more as we began the remodeling. Pete was awesome - gave me all the estimates in one go and was able to schedule a team within the week to get the abatement done. Team did such a precise job!! It really helped us continue with our home remodel process. Thanks, First Capital!

As an Industrial Hygienist for A.L.S.I. and now running my own company I would recommend First Capital Asbestos Abatement for your first call. Professionalism cannot be trumped by very few in this field. I may seem to have a biased opinion but rightly so as I have been in the guts of the abatement process and the glory of the finished product with the abatement crew members. Guts and Glory. I would recommend this company for any size asbestos or lead abatement need. Dannie Keen C.E.O. Industrial Hygienist-Asbestos Inspector-Lead Inspector-Lead Risk Assessor

Fast Unloading in less than 45 minutes. The only reason I gave a 4 star review is because of the tight space for a 53 ft wheeler. There’s parked box trucks and cars everywhere. Gotta be very careful

I see there is already a bad review for the truck drivers, so I figured I would share my experience. Today, 5/7/19 I was driving on Rt 30 eastbound near the Rt 74 exit when the driver in the truck with license plate #ZKR 2302 cut into my lane without a turn signal at the last second causing me to slam on my brakes so hard I skid and my lunch that was in the front seat spilled onto the floor. While naturally I laid on my horn as this occurred, the driver then had the audacity to honk at me and flip me off as I drove past. I’ve never dealt with this company directly, but this experience ensures that I will go out of my way to make sure I never do.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in York

How much can spray foam insulation save on heating and cooling bills in York?
Homeowners in mixed climates like York, PA typically see 20–30% reductions in total energy costs after spray foam installation. The savings come from both reduced heating in winter and reduced cooling in summer. The exact savings depend on your home's current insulation, size, and local energy rates, but most homeowners recoup the investment within 3–6 years.
Is spray foam better than fiberglass insulation for homes in York?
For most homes in York, PA, spray foam outperforms fiberglass significantly. Fiberglass batts insulate but do not air seal — meaning conditioned air still escapes through gaps. Spray foam both insulates and creates an airtight seal, addressing the root cause of energy loss. While spray foam costs more upfront, the performance difference in mixed climates makes it the better long-term investment for most homeowners.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost?
Spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your location. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic costs $2,000–$6,000. Most homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor?
Look for contractors who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
