I was impressed with their professionalism after they did an energy audit thru PPL when they provided details on how to improve energy efficiency in our home. The crew came and completed the job in 2 days and each day Zach took the time to show and explain what was completed. When sealing the band joist they found and removed an ants nest- we haven’t had ants in our kitchen since!! Bonus. When they insulated the attic a wire was cut so they brought in an electrician who fixed it and also fixed some faulty switches in our kitchen that hadn’t worked in years- no charge. Casey took care of the paperwork and we received the maximum PPL rebate. Overall wonderful experience!

Great company to work with. I had an energy audit done, and Casey gave clear suggestions for updating my home insulation based on the results. The work was done on schedule by very considerate and professional workers, Paul and Maddox. After the work was complete (1 day’s work) they did a new blower test and the results showed a 30% improvement. Well worth the investment!

After spending the winter constantly complaining about the master bedroom being the coldest room in the house, I reviewed the PPL website for information about an energy audit. King Conservation Group was one of the businesses on their list & they were also recommended by a neighbor. Casey King performed the audit and subsequently provided a detailed report including recommendations for the most effective remedies. There was no pressure, no "false promises". The work was completed last week. The professionalism and the efficiency exhibited by Casey and the crew was exceptional. Pricing was reasonable. I believe the full value of the work will be felt this coming winter. Highly recommend King Conservation Group.

Marcos was amazing from start to finish. He came next day to give a quote, was courteous and professional, and did us a huge solid by fitting us in with last minute notice for a Sunday insulation removal job. The team came prepared, on time, and did a good job with prep work. They didn’t leave a spec of the old blow in insulation behind when they were done. Thanks Marcos!

Quality foam just blew in cellulose from the exterior of our home . They found horizontal beams which required them to drill more holes to properly fill the walls with insulation. This doubled the amount of time that they thought it would take. , but they did not adjust the Orginal price they quoted. The men did a great job installing everything and cleaned up really well daily! I highly recommend

I cannot recommend barrier spray foam enough. We had been looking for a company that I felt comfortable doing our spray foam insulation in the completely un-insulated attic space for a few weeks before I found Robert Keeney from barrier spray foam and I am extremely glad that I was able to find them because I could not be more pleased with the service and the quality of the work that they produced. Robert was incredibly efficient, showed up exactly when he said he would to do a free estimate, he was very good at explaining the R values and the percentage that they would actually insulate the space and what his recommendations are and for that I am extremely grateful. The other companies that we had to quote did not go into this level of detail! Barrier spray foam helped me to feel very comfortable that they were doing everything they could to make sure that the work that was done was what the space needed, and the quality was top notch. We received their very reasonable quote exactly when he told me I would, and not once did I feel that communication was lacking. We were scheduled quickly and on the morning of the assigned day Robert and his crew showed up promptly, they had everything they needed to start work very quickly, they all wore masks and were very respectful of our space and putting down tarps to cover everywhere that they walked. They started promptly, explained what they were doing, explained where they were throughout the process and let us know when they were ready to leave. They were in around 8:00 AM and left around 2:00 PM, their work is incredibly neat and we can't find a single fault with it! Thank you so much Robert and team from Barrier spray foam!

They respond very fast, are very knowledgeable and professional. They were able to accommodate our tight schedule without any issues. The day of installation, the crew worked fast but efficiently. They were respectful of our home and cleaned not only the attic where they were working, but also the path through the house to get to the attic. On top of an amazing job and professionalism, they were cheaper than any other company we contacted. They respect their customers and truly want what is best for the job.

Great Experience, well worth getting new insulation in attic! We have had all kinds of issues keeping our warm. We have been through exterior roof repair (fixing poor build design on a roof above patio door that had NO insulation), overpaid on a patio door replacement and have had multiple HVAC companies & techs come out to assess the cold house in the winter. We have been told that our heating/air conditioning system was under powered by 2 tons, but way too expensive to replace when it works fine and one company suggested putting in another heat pump for the second floor. But in the end, we were told by our current HVAC guy (fellow Hempfield Wrestling Dad) that the best bang for the buck was to get more insulation blown into attic. We took his advice and felt immediate improvements! The upstairs is almost too warm, now that there is insulation over every ceiling area. All of our ceiling fans and lights had the insulation pushed away and was just allowing all heat to escape. 5 years dealing with this headache and it was solved for less than 2k.... money well spent!

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Lancaster

How much can spray foam insulation save on heating and cooling bills in Lancaster?
Homeowners in mixed climates like Lancaster, PA typically see 20–30% reductions in total energy costs after spray foam installation. The savings come from both reduced heating in winter and reduced cooling in summer. The exact savings depend on your home's current insulation, size, and local energy rates, but most homeowners recoup the investment within 3–6 years.
Is spray foam better than fiberglass insulation for homes in Lancaster?
For most homes in Lancaster, PA, spray foam outperforms fiberglass significantly. Fiberglass batts insulate but do not air seal — meaning conditioned air still escapes through gaps. Spray foam both insulates and creates an airtight seal, addressing the root cause of energy loss. While spray foam costs more upfront, the performance difference in mixed climates makes it the better long-term investment for most homeowners.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost?
Spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your location. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic costs $2,000–$6,000. Most homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor?
Look for contractors who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
