Wonderful experience with the Foam It team! They did a great job assessing my home's needs, working with me on budget and financing, and were great to have for the actual work. My house is so much more comfortable now! Thank you!

Scott and his crew did an amazing job with our spray foam insulation. Previously, we had an awful company remove insulation and leave us with a disaster of dust to clean up so we can appreciate when the job is done right. There was not any dirt or debris left behind and they worked so efficiently. The crew was polite and respectful of our home. Jim did a terrific job answering all our questions and working with us to get to the right solution for our insulation issues.

We just had Mike Murphy and his great team Yaseen and Teak come out to insulate our home. The work they did was fast, clean and well done. Throughout the entire process they were very kind and kept us informed on what was happening. They were able to adjust their start time to my schedule which was very appreciated. Would definitely recommend their services. Made the process as easy as possible. Looking forward to a cozy home this winter! The heating savings will be a big bonus.

The experience was fantastic. Kevin did an excellent job of determining our needs and outlining what needed to be done. The workers, Toby, Vince and Ronaldo were courteous and proficient in the insulation installation. Dan, our inspector, informed us of our energy saves and potential future work. All in all an excellent experience!

We recently just had our house fully insulated and our house was built in 1954. Our house had no insulation and we would freeze during the winter or be very warm in the house during the summer. Now with all the insulation done is so nice and comfortable. We would be normally at 78 degrees in the house with central air and now we are at 68 and nice and cool. The service was incredible. Great job cleaning everything up and the guys worked all day non stop in this heat we had this past month. Josh, Johnny and Tim were very friendly and helpful during the whole process. The gentleman Dan who came to check out everything was done correctly was very informative And polite. Highly recommend this service. Our windows are old and just can’t get over how comfortable our house is and the quietness from not hearing everything outside. The sound barrier is amazing now. We hear nothing going outside. Please use them you will be happy!!!

I did some research on spray foam, enough to know it was not worth my time to do it myself, although I am perfectly capable. I found 2 Rochester area companies I wanted to talk to, neither were the Big names you always hear about. I made some calls and soon talked to Josh Goodale (part owner) and the owner of the other company out of the Bloomfield area. I really enjoyed the conversation with both guys and felt comfortable hiring either one at that point. Their quotes were fairly close to each other. I decided to go with Goodale, he is in Churchville and so am I. Josh explained they are trying to expand their business in this area. The room appears to have once been a 3 season room. Has a concrete base with red brick as the floor. There is a crawl space underneath about 4' high with a small access hole from the basement with a dirt floor ( I have never ventured into this space ) . Josh climbed through the access hole with his sprayer/hose and applied the agreed upon amount of closed cell foam, he did some extra work that he recommended once he got into the space and saw a "situation" that needed to be addressed. He cleaned up well. I recommend Goodale spray foam. I understand they do both commercial and residential.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Binghamton

These are the questions Binghamton homeowners ask most about spray foam cost, R-value, and open- vs. closed-cell foam — with context for local pricing and roughly 35% typical energy savings. Compare the 4 verified Binghamton contractors above for exact quotes.

How much can spray foam insulation save on heating and cooling bills in Binghamton?▼
Homeowners in mixed climates like Binghamton, NY typically see 20–30% reductions in total energy costs after spray foam installation. The savings come from both reduced heating in winter and reduced cooling in summer. The exact savings depend on your home's current insulation, size, and local energy rates, but most homeowners recoup the investment within 3–6 years.
Is spray foam better than fiberglass insulation for homes in Binghamton?▼
For most homes in Binghamton, NY, spray foam outperforms fiberglass significantly. Fiberglass batts insulate but do not air seal — meaning conditioned air still escapes through gaps. Spray foam both insulates and creates an airtight seal, addressing the root cause of energy loss. While spray foam costs more upfront, the performance difference in mixed climates makes it the better long-term investment for most homeowners.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?▼
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost in Binghamton, NY?▼
In Binghamton, NY and the surrounding area, spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your home's specifics. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic in Binghamton costs $2,000–$6,000. Most Binghamton homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?▼
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?▼
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor in Binghamton, NY?▼
When searching for a spray foam contractor in Binghamton, NY, look for ones who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified Binghamton contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors in Binghamton for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?▼
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?▼
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
