I can’t speak highly enough about the Weatherize Guyz for their work insulating my house through NHSaves. Mike, Dan, Andrew, and the team were professional throughout the process. The work was disrupted a bit when they found vermiculite in my attic. Mike was quick to let me know about the issue. While I worked through that remediation separately, the Guyz helped tighten up my drafty house. When they returned to further insulate the house after the remediation, they reviewed their past work and suggested additional measures to undertake to further tighten the house. Afterwards, Dan provided me some post-insulation pictures from my attic, discussed the improved efficiency of my home, and offered some suggestions to tighten the house in the future. Mike and his team were great to work with. I appreciated his close communication and the professionalism of his staff. Glad to have worked with the Weatherize Guyz!

Thank you Mike & The Weatherize Guzy's , Lyle and his 3 man crew. We cannot say enough nice things about them all, their work was impeccable and their clean up was as good. In all this heat they carried on and did an A+ job insulating our attic , cellar and sealing the doors, fixing the dryer vent and venting the bathroom ceiling fan to the outside. Lyle even found some rot under our siding and helped fix it with me. We are looking forward to reaping the rewards of their hard work this fall and winter. They were all very friendly and explained what they were doing throughout the 2 days they were here. A Great bunch of hard working guys who I would recommend to anyone Thank you so much Dennis & Norma Straitiff

Mike and foreman Lyle did very good work in our home. Mike came out and reviewed the project before starting. We went with the NHsaves program and couldn't be happier. Our house is a cape so it was a bigger project but their insulation install has made our home way more comfortable and much more energy efficient. Mike answered all my questions and was always available as the project manager. Blower door test was 1000 cfm less air leakage. Can't wait to see how much oil we save!

A Plus Energy did an excellent insulation upgrade at my home. Daniel, the installer and owner, was incredibly thorough, efficient, and left the workspace perfectly clean. He explained everything clearly and his work was top-notch. I've already noticed a significant improvement in my home's comfort and expect to see lower energy bills. The NH Saves energy efficiency rebates made the upgrades very affordable. Highly recommend A Plus Energy and especially Daniel for the professional and meticulous service.

Dan was great! I was looking to improve the energy efficiency of my house. After having a couple insulation companies come out I discovered the NH Saves energy audits and weatherization program. Dan came out very shortly after I signed up and completed an energy audit. He was quickly able to identify that the knee wall area of my cape style house was not insulated. He made several other recommendations that the other companies I had come out missed. Dan was quick to complete the work and was easy to schedule with. He was clean while working in the house and l look forward to the improved efficiency benefits.

We live in an older home built on ledge and a stone foundation. The previous owner's solution to insulation was fiberglass between the joists, which provided little insulation to the cold coming from the ground into the stone and concrete walls. Spencer gave me a quote for new plastic over the ledge, removal of the fiberglass insulation, and spray foaming the stone foundation. Their work was so well done, and I know we will see a reduction in our fuel usage. It also makes the space brighter, easier to keep clean, and far less claustrophobic. I had swept and vacuumed the utility concrete portion, and expected it to need another cleaning after their work; no, it was all vacuumed when done! Spencer, Nicole, and crew were easy to work with, and extremely professional. You will not be disappointed! Terry So here's an update after an unusually early cold 2025 winter. The house is now substantially less drafty, and far less heat needed; despite the cold temps outside. It's night and day better inside temps, and far less fuel consumption to keep the house comfortable. The boiler is not cycling on and off, and I can walk around with a T-shirt; vs. a sweater; despite the cold outside temps. I cannot believe the improvement, and comfort from having the basement walls spray foamed! Over just a few years, it will pay for itself, and better yet is the improved comfort level! Thank you all so very much! Kindly, Terry

Spencer provided timely, professional service at a competitive price. Spencer and his crew were friendly, very knowledgeable and obviously have passion for what they do. They treated me and my property with respect. He is honest and did not oversell or overcharge me for the small project he did for us. I will use Spencer again for any future projects and I recommend him and his services. Thank you Spencer and Nichole.

Spencer and his crew insulated our 100 year old cottage and did an amazing job, earlier than expected timeline and left the place very clean upon completion. We are now able to enjoy our cottage year round due to his work. Highly recommend! Thank you!

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Nashua

Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost?
Spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your location. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic costs $2,000–$6,000. Most homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor?
Look for contractors who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
