Jack did a great job replacing the insulation in my crawlspace. He was great with communication and scheduling and made things easy. Great quality work as well. Thank you!

Brittany Nalls★★★★★5 years ago

I’d like to personal thank Jack and his crew. They came out and insulated my house after it had flooded and had lots of storm damage. Jack responded to me in a very respectable timely manner once I called and I had my free estimate for all the work that they were gonna do to my house in under 24 hours. For that I’m very grateful most other company’s told me that it would be a week to almost two weeks out. Once I received my free estimate they started work on my house the following weekend. I highly recommend coastal insulations to any everyone looking for insulation work. Thanks again Jack and your crew for all the amazing work that y’all completed for me.

Rob and Chris did a great job. They installed a whole attic radiant barrier and added blown in insulation to take out attic to R38. They were efficient and clean. I highly recommend Koala insulation.

The crews that came out to insulate my attic and install my solar fan were great. Scope of work was discussed prior to it beginning and my input was solicited prior to placement of the attic fan. The crew was also very accommodating of the crowed work site as I had several trades on site at the same time. I’m very happy with the results.

Koala was professional and responsive from quote to installation! They were able to accommodate my quick timeline and the installers, Cody and Jeff, were prompt, polite and professional. They explained the process and got right to work blowing insulation into my attic. When finished, they cleaned up and showed pictures of the finished work. Highly recommend!!

Amazing! I can’t say enough about how great the team was! We’d had a previous encapsulation done by another company and weren’t happy with the work. We did some research and found Crawlspace Ninja and gave them a call. I initially spoke with Jennifer- she was knowledgeable, answered my initial questions, scheduled Mike to come out right away, and as a follow up to our convo she sent me a link to their educational videos! Mike came out, and even took the time to crawl under the house with my husband to explain the services they could provide. Afterwards, Mike handed us off to Steven (whose team did the work) via a face-to-face meeting and walked us through what to expect. Mike and Steven both reached out weekly prior to beginning the project to check in. Once the work started - Steven, Cameron, Matt and Caroline delivered superior service! Once the job was complete - Steven took the time to crawl the space with my husband to ensure that all work on the final checklist was complete and met our expectations. You just don’t get this kind of service these days. They truly exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend them - trustworthy, great communication and high quality workmanship!

From Jennifer in the office, to Cody, helping to coordinate the entire process, to their entire crew - Cameron, Steven, Doug, and Jaden, They did an amazing job. Our crawlspace looks brand new and the mold seems to be completely gone. Hopefully this does the trick and gets our family completely healthy. Would highly recommend these guys. Thank you!

Crawl Space Ninjas of Wilmington is the best investment we could have made for our new home. Steven and Cameron were meticulously thorough and unsurpassed in their craft! It was world-class service, start to finish. By installing a water management system, ventilation fans, a condensation pump, a sump pump, removing all mold, and encapsulating our crawl space, they have prolonged the life of our home. They’ve also preserved the equity of the house if we ever sell. If you’re considering encapsulation, hire the Ninjas… you won’t regret it.

They were great! Did a very thorough job of insulating the attic - in compliance with Duke Energy rebate plan. They were thorough but quick, better than the other 3 companies using more insulation than the others and at a lower price even though they provided radiant heat barriers for all knee wall and attic access doors. Communication was excellent with them and they handled all forms needed by Duke for getting my rebate.

Chris and company helped us out when we first moved here in 2013. Installed energy efficient wrap in the attic. Over next few years All About Energy Solutions has installed energy efficient lighting, protective wrap in crawl space, and extra insulation in attic. Chris and crew are knowledgeable professionals. They stand behind their products and have repaired or adjusted what they installed without any extra charge.

A few months ago, we started to smell a musty odor in our house. I had a handful of contractors look at the crawl space to determine the source of the smell. One heating and air company said I needed all new duct work. Another said I did not need any duct work replaced. I had three insulation companies look at it and it turns out the smell was coming from some wet insulation caused by a since-replaced water heater. Chris also noted some evidence of past animal activity under the house which also led to some of the smell. Chris suggested I replace the insulation, fog the crawlspace with a disenfectant and add a new vapor barrier. So far that approach seems to have done the trick. His estimate seemed fair for the scope of work proposed. I want to commend Tammy for her good communication skills and his crew of Terrance and Canaan. They were professional and courteous. I would recommend All About Energy Solutions to my friends and family.

We had gutters installed by Blown Rite and Kris was on top of it! Personal and professional, work was completed quickly and we are very pleased with the finished product. I work in the construction industry and know how hectic it can be, they made us feel like we really mattered. We would recommend them to all my family and friends.

Jim Wolfe★★★★★6 years ago

We added oversized gutters and gutter guards based on their recommendation. They also added insulation to our attic. The products delivered are outstanding; service was excellent; and the people are super professional and efficient. Both jobs were completed quickly and when finished they took all the trash with them. Their pricing is extremely fair. If you need gutters and/or insulation you don’t need to look further. Blown-Rite for insulation and gutters get 10 out of 10 stars from us. Thank you Kris and Blown-Rite.

We are very satisfied with Kris and this company. Kris is great with estimates, very afforable. Workers were professional and on time with doing our insulation. My husband and I highly recommend Blown Rite.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Wilmington

These are the questions Wilmington homeowners ask most about spray foam cost, R-value, and open- vs. closed-cell foam — with context for local pricing and roughly 33% typical energy savings. Compare the 8 verified Wilmington contractors above for exact quotes.

Is spray foam insulation a good investment in Wilmington?
For homes in mixed-humid climates like Wilmington, NC, spray foam is typically an excellent investment. The combination of hot summers, cold winters, and significant humidity means your home faces insulation challenges year-round. Spray foam addresses all three — providing thermal insulation in both seasons while controlling moisture infiltration. Most homeowners in NC see payback periods of 4–7 years. As with any tight building envelope, ensure your home has adequate mechanical ventilation to manage interior moisture.
How does humidity affect spray foam insulation performance in Wilmington?
In mixed-humid climates like Wilmington, NC, moisture management is as important as thermal performance. Closed-cell spray foam acts as a Class II vapor retarder, preventing moisture from infiltrating walls and attics where it causes mold and structural damage. This dual function — insulation plus moisture control — is why spray foam outperforms traditional insulation options in NC's climate. However, because the building envelope becomes tightly sealed, proper mechanical ventilation is strongly recommended to allow interior moisture from daily activities to escape without losing conditioned air.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost in Wilmington, NC?
In Wilmington, NC and the surrounding area, spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your home's specifics. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic in Wilmington costs $2,000–$6,000. Most Wilmington homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor in Wilmington, NC?
When searching for a spray foam contractor in Wilmington, NC, look for ones who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified Wilmington contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors in Wilmington for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
