Super responsive, polite, and efficient. Would highly recommend and will use again for any insulating needs. Within 3 days I got a quote and the work completed for blowing insulation into an attic space that was a garage conversion as well as releveling insulation across the rest of the attic.

Tim Johnson★★★★★2 weeks ago

Great job by Andy and crew! He provided solid estimate based on needs, showed up on time - left a clean and neat work space (very important). Revitalized my attic spaces with blown-in insulation and "fixed" the areas previous contractors (electrical and plumbing) had evidently moved insulation to work, also removed their discarded items - THEN installed an insulated hatch for my pull down stairs! Thanks again! I'd give him more stars if available!

We had the misfortune of having a tree fall on our house, damaging the roof and attic structure. After all the repairs were completed, we had Andy evaluate the existing insulation. He was extremely thorough, looking over the entire house and offering his recommendation. We opted for blown in cellulose in the attic, along with some minor mold remediation and extra insulation in spots in the basement. Andy and his team did a great job, including a thorough clean-up. I am happy to recommend Hendersonville Insulating.

Working with Victor to insulate my new house build was a pleasure. He was very professional and super informative. WNC as a company was very timely and also affordable. They did good insulation work despite an exceptionally low price. The crew was friendly and everything went smooth. Highly recommend for anyone looking to button up a home or business anywhere in Macon County or North Georgia

Great experience on both encapsulation and insulation. Have worked with WNC Insulation on two separate properties now, and have had excellent work to both crawl spaces to improve humidity, moisture and insulation. Saw significant energy difference in both houses when work complete. We would highly recommend and use again.

I would highly recommend this company after the two spray foam jobs that they did for me. One was an Amish built building, and the other was an apartment. Excellent work at a very good price. I would use them again and plan to use them when I get ready to insulate my garage.

Conservation Pros did an amazing job with our crawlspace encapsulation. At the estimate Jonathan showed us the materials used, spent plenty of time explaining their process and answering questions. Once the work started the crew was prompt, clear and courteous. The work they did was great and they took the time to notice a few other things that need fixing and took care of it. I would HIGHLY recommend them. As a small business owner myself, I appreciate their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Annie Clingenpeel★★★★★3 months ago

Conservation Pros have done 2 jobs for me. Both times, their work was excellent. Both required getting into crawlspaces. Tedious and dirty work. Both times, their employees were positive -- even fun. I've never seen a business this uplifting. They were knowledgeable and efficient. I highly recommend them!

John Allen★★★★★a week ago

Conservation Pros did a fantastic job air sealing and insulating my attic. I crawled around up there before they blew in the new insulation, and they did a great job of sealing up every little nook and cranny, installing foamboard dams, flagging electrical boxes, etc. House already feels a lot warmer.

We recently got three quotes from different companies on getting our insulation topped off. EnergySmith wasn't the cheapest nor the most expensive, but we were most impressed with what they presented and the thoroughness of the job they intended to do. Mike has a very down to earth attitude, expressed and explained value over price, and came across as very honest. The work crew was swift and efficient, and the results were mind blowing! We wish we had done this years ago, it has had such a dramatic effect. Our heat easily comes on half as much as it used to. We were so blown away with the effects and enjoyed working with Mike so much that a few weeks later we decided to have them do the same work on a rental property we own. EnergySmith exceeded our expectations! Thanks guys!

Found these guys off of Duke Energy's referral program for upgrading my attic insulation. These guys worked at our home in January when the outside temperatures were in the teens! Everyone had a great attitude and engaged with my wife and self, explaining what they were going to do and what they had done at the end. They were very efficient and I would recommend them to anyone thinking about additional insulation for the attic!

Neil G★★★★★3 years ago

Mike and his crew are great. They quickly removed old attic insulation and added new insulation a couple years ago. Recently, when I reached out to Mike about an issue we noticed in the attic, they came and took a look the very next day and within 3 days they resolved the problem. Would absolutely recommend their services.

Greg forest has been doing all my insulation work for 20 years always on schedule and on budget. Thanks to everyone for the great jobs we have accomplished thru the years.

Yolanda Parker★★★★★2 months ago

Pisgah quickly scheduled a visit when we asked about crawlspace encapsulation and spray foam under our manufactured home. The job took 2 days, and the crew removed all of the old insulation and cloth membrane under the floor joists before installing plastic over the dirt and spraying foam on the walls and around the bottom of the concrete block piers. Our basement looks and smells amazing now. We highly recommend this company.

One section under my house is a tight squeeze, the rest is easy. I could have done the job of insulating my floor myself, but didn't want to do the hard part. That's why I hired Allied. When the Allied workers (who could not speak English) finished the easy section, I was informed that the job was done. "Well," I was told, "you didn't want to do that part. Neither do we." Round Two: While slicing their insulation batts, the workers also sliced up the vapor barrier on the ground under my house. They destroyed it. So I called Allied and was told they would deliver rolls of new plastic sheeting and leave it on my porch, even though I would have to do the work myself. They never delivered. The Allied guy who contracted with me and came out to measure was a very nice guy. Too bad the job wasn't that nice.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Asheville

Is spray foam insulation a good investment in Asheville?
For homes in mixed-humid climates like Asheville, NC, spray foam is typically an excellent investment. The combination of hot summers, cold winters, and significant humidity means your home faces insulation challenges year-round. Spray foam addresses all three — providing thermal insulation in both seasons while controlling moisture infiltration. Most homeowners in NC see payback periods of 4–7 years. As with any tight building envelope, ensure your home has adequate mechanical ventilation to manage interior moisture.
How does humidity affect spray foam insulation performance in Asheville?
In mixed-humid climates like Asheville, NC, moisture management is as important as thermal performance. Closed-cell spray foam acts as a Class II vapor retarder, preventing moisture from infiltrating walls and attics where it causes mold and structural damage. This dual function — insulation plus moisture control — is why spray foam outperforms traditional insulation options in NC's climate. However, because the building envelope becomes tightly sealed, proper mechanical ventilation is strongly recommended to allow interior moisture from daily activities to escape without losing conditioned air.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost?
Spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your location. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic costs $2,000–$6,000. Most homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor?
Look for contractors who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
