I had Josh and his crew spray insulation in My 40 x 50 shop. I'm very happy with the job. It made it easier to heat and cool and even muted the echo. I highly recommend them.

Keaton did an excellent job in what we were needing. Communication was almost daily from the time I requested his service until the job was complete. We were very satisfied with the service. He gave me different options of what I was asking for and what he could provide. His expertise was on point. We will use him again in the near future. Thanks Keaton! • Q Foam Tech - Lubbock, TX Lubbock,

An Update, March 3, 2025. We've now had our attics sealed for a couple years. The difference has been phenomenal. Consistent comfort is stunning. And if I need to get into my attic, year-around, it's not a monumental moment of dread due to the cold or heat as the temp stays pretty comfortable. Here's another big deal. A neighbor who is on the same electrical provider plan with the same "discounted" months told me his last month's bill. If I take his bill and compare to mine the difference pays for our foam from Foam Tech in a year-and-a-half. That to say, there are tons of variables that drive this difference, but with our experience I'll never do anything but urethane foam when insulating. Review from a Couple Years Ago: Shannon was great to work with. The urethane foam techs and crews that came out were great as well. The price was most reasonable. The work got done in just a couple days and I'm anxious to see the impact it will have especially on our comfort. I can easily recommend Foam Tech if you're in the market. I sprayed urethane foam (commercial applications as Foam Tech does this as well) for several years but that was back in the 70's. The technology has changed and Foam Tech has kept up with this as well; some others have as well, but some are back in the 70's and differences are significant. Thanks, Shannon!

Every single employee is extremely professional, I'm shocked at the difference between Thermo Dynamic and other companies. Very prompt and friendly staff, very detailed prep work, amazing foam job. Price was right in line with competition but considering the quality and finished thickness, it was an outstanding price.

I sure hope they have a GPS or camera in their trucks to see how those guys drive. Driver in a box truck with license plate beginning in V was going 20 over on the highway and just narrowly missed a vehicle to cut across a lane and take an exit… there was plenty of space behind that vehicle for them to get over but I guess the driver is impatient. They either don’t know what a box truck going 85 can do to a smaller vehicle or don’t care, but I do know a wreck due to negligence like that can put a company under and just makes them look bad. Professionalism should extend to the road and the least you can do is care about other drivers while in a company vehicle. I wouldn’t wanna hire this company simply because dangerous driving like that shows a lack of integrity. 0 stars if I could.

They did an ok job on the spray foam itself . One thing I did notice is that it was not very even at all. The biggest issue I had was the mess they made and didn’t clean it up . Got spray foam all over a brand new garage door . I contacted the owner numerous times and all he said three different times is I’ll have someone there this week to clean it up and no one ever showed up so for this reason I’ll never be using these guys again . I tried giving them time to make it right and they didn’t

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Lubbock

Does spray foam insulation work well in hot dry climates like Lubbock?
Yes — spray foam is highly effective in hot dry climates like Lubbock, TX. While moisture control is less of a concern than in humid climates, the air sealing properties are critical for keeping hot desert air out and cooled air in. In extreme heat climates, an unsealed attic can reach 150°F+, dramatically increasing AC load. Spray foam in the attic can reduce attic temperatures by 30–40°F.
What is the best area of my home to insulate in Lubbock?
In hot dry climates like Lubbock, TX, the attic is typically the highest-impact area to spray foam insulate. Desert sun heats roofs to extreme temperatures, and an uninsulated attic transfers that heat directly into your living space. After the attic, crawl spaces and rim joists are the next highest-impact areas. A local contractor can perform an energy audit to identify where your home loses the most conditioned air.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost?
Spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your location. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic costs $2,000–$6,000. Most homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor?
Look for contractors who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
