Sustainergy Coop just completed a 29 panel rooftop solar installation at our home in Northside. We had a really great experience starting with Lewis estimating the project - the price was reasonable and well explained. Jordan then came out for the site review to plan the installation and was there both days of the install as well. DeMarcus and his installation crew were awesome. I really appreciated the extra time they took to plan the conduit runs for minimum visibility - they were very communicative and worked hard to make everything look as tidy as possible. As a bonus, I love that Sustainergy is a local company and are worker-owned. Five stars all around, highly recommended!

Sustainergy recently completed a 33-solar panel installation as well as energy efficiency work. Every member of the Sustainergy team was professional, polite, and courteous. After installation, when the panels had an issue communicating with the App, DeMarcus came out and fixed the issue promptly and with care and concern. As part of the energy efficiency assessment, Flequer discovered that a prior contractor had improperly vented a shower exhaust; the Sustainergy team properly vented it. Flequer also recommended installation of an energy efficient water heater. I appreciated this recommendation not only for the cost savings but also because water heaters are not something that Sustainergy sells or installs (this indicated to me that their assessment was genuine and goes well beyond only recommending services they provide). I appreciated Flequer's thoroughness and recommendation.

I had a great experience with Sustainergy Cooperative from the scheduling to the work being completed. They were very accommodating in scheduling due to my anxious/protective dog, which didn’t go unnoticed. 😊 The workers were timely, friendly and respectful. They did a great job and they cleaned up everything really well! I can’t wait to hopefully see improvements in my Energy Bills!! Donna

I recently hired Midwest energy management to install poly shield attic guard insulation system in my home From the initial consultation to the final cleanup, the entire process was smooth and professional. The team arrived on time, explained everything clearly and worked efficiently. They used high-quality materials and took the time to ensure everything was properly insulated. The crew was respectfully of my space cleaned up thoroughly after the job and kept me updated throughout the project. Pricing was fair transparent with no hidden fees. I would definitely recommend Midwest Energy Management to anyone looking for reliable insulation services. Great value excellent service.

Midwest Energy came to our neighborhood last week going door to door about the services they provide. I wasn’t home for the first visit, but the next day a salesman named Simon came back. Right off the bat Simon was personable, professional, very knowledgeable about the services provided, and was great around our young daughter who just kept wanting high fives. He even brought heat lamps and thermometers with typical fiberglass insulation as well as their radiant barrier to show the difference between the two and it really spoke for itself. We thought he was very easy to work with and the guys who came to do the installation itself were also very kind, timely, and knew what they were doing. It’s too soon to know what the cost difference is yet, but the house has felt great and I feel at ease knowing our home is well insulated.

So nice to find someone who is honest. I had Jerry out to our house to check on some concerns I had. Jerry walked thru our house, was thorough, used his infrared tool to verify information etc. He told me I was okay. I was thankful that he "didn't find something."

Had attic insulation installed..Jerry explained procedure thoroughly , he provided a very fair quote and was honest in addressing all of my questions. Jerry took the time to foam insulate my outlets to decrease drafts. His employees were efficient, friendly and cleaned up the area well following installation..would highly recommend this company.

Great company and staff! Their quote for both the spray foam insulation and the blown-in attic insulation were very fair. We had a quote from another company that was three times more! The workmanship is amazing and the installers were on-time, polite, and professional. And, of course, working with Jack was a pleasure. He understood exactly what we wanted and kept the lines of communication open. We would definitely use Priority One again! Thank you.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Cincinnati

These are the questions Cincinnati homeowners ask most about spray foam cost, R-value, and open- vs. closed-cell foam — with context for local pricing and roughly 35% typical energy savings. Compare the 8 verified Cincinnati contractors above for exact quotes.

How much can spray foam insulation save on heating and cooling bills in Cincinnati?
Homeowners in mixed climates like Cincinnati, OH typically see 20–30% reductions in total energy costs after spray foam installation. The savings come from both reduced heating in winter and reduced cooling in summer. The exact savings depend on your home's current insulation, size, and local energy rates, but most homeowners recoup the investment within 3–6 years.
Is spray foam better than fiberglass insulation for homes in Cincinnati?
For most homes in Cincinnati, OH, spray foam outperforms fiberglass significantly. Fiberglass batts insulate but do not air seal — meaning conditioned air still escapes through gaps. Spray foam both insulates and creates an airtight seal, addressing the root cause of energy loss. While spray foam costs more upfront, the performance difference in mixed climates makes it the better long-term investment for most homeowners.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost in Cincinnati, OH?
In Cincinnati, OH and the surrounding area, spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your home's specifics. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic in Cincinnati costs $2,000–$6,000. Most Cincinnati homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor in Cincinnati, OH?
When searching for a spray foam contractor in Cincinnati, OH, look for ones who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified Cincinnati contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors in Cincinnati for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
