I don't remember when, in my 69 yrs of age, I have had the good fortune to confer with such an honest and knowledgeable representative as JOHN! He spent considerable time with me discussing the options and pitfalls of trying to insulate the floor in my old log cabin. It was built without a subfloor and chinking 30 years ago and now in 2019, an unusual and energy expensive problem! He was honest and kind enough to consider my very low, fixed income in trying to resolve my situation. I HIGHLY recommend him to evaluate your situation honestly and would feel comfortable enough, based on John's employment there and his judgement of service providers, to highly recommend this company for your insulation needs! They won't take advantage of you! gail Harper

Yeah I used these guys. I was amazed at how hard of a worker the owner was. For a little guy he can work circles around men twice his size. They were in and out in no time. They were professional and the quality shows. My electric bills don't lie, a quality insulation job saved me money in the long run. Money well spent. I would highly recommend these guys over the competition as I have used others. When you are looking for a "Professional" I would look no further than Pro Foam, hell it's even in the name.

Call Wes at Pro Foam. You won't be disappointed. This is the only insulation company I'll use. They've done several insulation projects for us and we're always happy with the end result. Recommend for sure.

I am a General Contractor in Tallahassee, and have been in the construction business for 42 years. My reputation has been based on using the best sub contractors. I recently contracted with Quality Insulation for a foam insulation installation. They were fair priced, on time, finished on time, the quoted price was what was charged, the job was cleaner than when they arrived, and the communication process was very professional. I would use them in the future and recommend them to my building contractor friends. Worley Construction Inc is very satisfied with this company.

This company changed ownership and now their follow through and communication is terrible. Very pleasant office staff, but good luck getting anyone to call you back for work. It completely baffles me when company's don't follow up on sales leads. I have a 10,000 SF warehouse that needs a spray job and tried to spoon feed these guys my business. Called multiple times and no one would ever call me back.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Tallahassee

These are the questions Tallahassee homeowners ask most about spray foam cost, R-value, and open- vs. closed-cell foam — with context for local pricing and roughly 30% typical energy savings. Compare the 7 verified Tallahassee contractors above for exact quotes.

Is spray foam insulation a good choice in hot and humid climates like Tallahassee?
Absolutely. Hot and humid climates like Tallahassee, FL are actually where spray foam insulation delivers some of its best results. Closed-cell spray foam acts as both an insulation layer and a moisture/vapor barrier, preventing the humidity infiltration that causes mold, rot, and air conditioning inefficiency. Homeowners in FL typically see 20–35% reductions in cooling costs after installation. One important note: because spray foam creates a tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is essential in humid climates to manage interior moisture from daily activities like cooking and bathing.
What type of spray foam is best for homes in Tallahassee?
In hot and humid climates like Tallahassee, FL, closed-cell spray foam is generally recommended for exterior walls, crawl spaces, and attics. Its high density creates a moisture barrier critical in humid environments. Open-cell foam can be used in interior walls for soundproofing and actually allows some vapor movement, which can be beneficial in certain wall assemblies. A qualified local contractor can assess your specific home and recommend the best approach.
Can spray foam insulation help reduce my AC bills in Tallahassee?
Yes — significantly. Air conditioning accounts for the majority of energy costs in hot climates like Tallahassee, FL. Spray foam seals all gaps and cracks that allow conditioned air to escape, which is the primary cause of high AC bills. Most homeowners in hot climates report 20–30% reductions in cooling costs after spray foam installation.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost in Tallahassee, FL?
In Tallahassee, FL and the surrounding area, spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your home's specifics. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic in Tallahassee costs $2,000–$6,000. Most Tallahassee homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor in Tallahassee, FL?
When searching for a spray foam contractor in Tallahassee, FL, look for ones who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified Tallahassee contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors in Tallahassee for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
