I hired Magnum Spray foam to insulate my storage building. They were the ONLY company (out of 6 that I contacted) that stayed in communication with me (most of them I either didn't get any communication back OR it took them WEEKS to return my calls/emails). They showed up on the job when they said they would, did a great job, were clean and respectful and fairly priced. I would definitely hire them for future projects. GREAT contractor.

I want to thank Caleb and Ken for the great job they did today blowing insulation in our lanai roof. They were on time, friendly, relatable and professional. Also, Jeff, the sales rep that coordinated the job was awesome as well. I highly recommend SUNCOAST Insulators and Specialties for the job you may need done at your home that their services can provide.

My experience with this company was phenomenal. Skeptical of the lower rating on google, I decided to give these guys a shot. Within 7 days, I had Derrick visit the property, quote me that afternoon, and a few days later had his team (Darrell & Steven) come out and spray closed cell foam on my shops ceiling. I was expecting a much higher quote too. They worked like animals and were friendly and polite. No complaints! They also cleaned up after themselves. Thanks again for turning my shop into an igloo!

My five star review rests with the result of the job itself, which should be the only thing that truly matters. I am happy with the result of the R30 spray insulation job. I went up on my attic and checked it. It was a job well-done! The purchase process was quick and easy, at the Ocala office. A fifty percent deposit assured me a spot on the calendar. It took Suncoast Insulators only two to three business days from deposit to completion, which I consider an excellent turn-around time. Scheduling on the other hand, was a bit bumpy. When I first received the call to schedule the job and we agreed on a day, I was told that my residence was going to be the first job of the day, in the AM. Therefore, I took a half-day off of work. On the day of the job, I called the office at 8:00 a.m. to confirm my appointment. I was first told that there was no record of my order, and being that I had already paid a 50% deposit, I became concerned, until the work order was finally located. Relief! I was then told that the job would take place in the afternoon, which required flexibility on the part of my employer, and loss of pay for me. However, I understand, things happen. Price wise, I think it was fair. Considering the cost of materials, the large truck with the pump two qualified technicians, travel distance, etc., I feel like I got a great deal. I would definitely recommend the services of Suncoast Insulators. Allow for scheduling flexibility.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Crystal River

These are the questions Crystal River homeowners ask most about spray foam cost, R-value, and open- vs. closed-cell foam — with context for local pricing and roughly 30% typical energy savings. Compare the 5 verified Crystal River contractors above for exact quotes.

Is spray foam insulation a good choice in hot and humid climates like Crystal River?▼
Absolutely. Hot and humid climates like Crystal River, FL are actually where spray foam insulation delivers some of its best results. Closed-cell spray foam acts as both an insulation layer and a moisture/vapor barrier, preventing the humidity infiltration that causes mold, rot, and air conditioning inefficiency. Homeowners in FL typically see 20–35% reductions in cooling costs after installation. One important note: because spray foam creates a tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is essential in humid climates to manage interior moisture from daily activities like cooking and bathing.
What type of spray foam is best for homes in Crystal River?▼
In hot and humid climates like Crystal River, FL, closed-cell spray foam is generally recommended for exterior walls, crawl spaces, and attics. Its high density creates a moisture barrier critical in humid environments. Open-cell foam can be used in interior walls for soundproofing and actually allows some vapor movement, which can be beneficial in certain wall assemblies. A qualified local contractor can assess your specific home and recommend the best approach.
Can spray foam insulation help reduce my AC bills in Crystal River?▼
Yes — significantly. Air conditioning accounts for the majority of energy costs in hot climates like Crystal River, FL. Spray foam seals all gaps and cracks that allow conditioned air to escape, which is the primary cause of high AC bills. Most homeowners in hot climates report 20–30% reductions in cooling costs after spray foam installation.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?▼
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost in Crystal River, FL?▼
In Crystal River, FL and the surrounding area, spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your home's specifics. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic in Crystal River costs $2,000–$6,000. Most Crystal River homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?▼
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?▼
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor in Crystal River, FL?▼
When searching for a spray foam contractor in Crystal River, FL, look for ones who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified Crystal River contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors in Crystal River for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?▼
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?▼
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
