Shiffer Insulation

We added a new wing with a slanted roofline to our home and wanted top-tier insulation. Before the roofing was finished, foam board panels were used throughout the structure. The precision of the cuts around beams and valleys stood out. Now that the space is complete, it holds temperature beautifully, and there’s no sound echoing during rain. It feels like a completely different build compared to our older section of the home.

Our project involved converting a dead storage area into usable living space, and insulation played a huge role. Before drywall went up, Peter and his crew added spray foam between the studs to create a consistent thermal barrier. In the attic above, they used a radiant barrier to reduce heat gain during the summer months. They worked with the framers, electricians, and inspectors, without slowing down the schedule. They also walked us through California’s insulation standards so everyone understood how the R-values were chosen. It was clear they took long-term efficiency seriously, not just rushing through.

The attic in our 1950s bungalow had thin, patchy insulation that let air leak through the rafters. Closed-cell spray foam was applied from ridge to eave, filling every joint. The musty smell disappeared almost instantly. The difference in comfort across the upper level is striking, and outside noise is practically gone. A smart upgrade for an aging structure.
