After meeting with a few other insulation companies we knew Enviro was the right choice for us! They are wholesome and honest people that have helped homeless veterans. Amanda was there for every and all questions that I had and kept us in the loop with every step during the permit process. They do not price gouge, and are very knowledgeable and care about the people that they work with which is why the use the materials that they do and not harmful chemicals that compromise your homes air quality. Evan gave us some recommendations of products to help with other home projects that we were working on. Evans work came out amazing. It was so neat and clean! Very professional! We would highly recommend them!! You will not be disappointed!

I couldn’t be happier with my crawl space encapsulation, it was 80-90% humidity, and beginning of mold, now it’s steadily at the optimum humidity of 45%. (Nothing grows). The space is steadily keeping an even temperature, which could already be felt when it got cold and rainy this week. And is expected to reduce heating and cooling cost by 30-40%! There isn’t any way for rodents or insects to get inside. Amanda, Evan and employees were great at keeping me informed throughout the entire project, it was priced fairly, in fact came in about half the cost of competitive quotes who had a substandard plan. Evan also stayed in touch to make sure all was working as planned after the job. Also, my property was left completely clean, you’d never know that had been there without entering the space. I expect this will be worth the cost and than some when you figure in tax rebates, heat savings and the value added to the home. I usually don’t write reviews as you expect good work, this was above and beyond expectations. Thanks Enviro Safe Foam team!

We’ve had custom windows and the entire front entry way replaced. New custom front door with framing, sidelights and fully functioning storm door added a completely new look and curb appeal to the front of our home. Awesome communication throughout the entire process and couldn’t be happier with the finished result. Quality work and attention to detail, highly recommend and will be using again for further jobs!

Roddy and the rest of the team are great here! They go above and beyond. They are very polite and professional. Honestly, they could charge a lot more and it would still be a great value.

Anderson Insulation was such a great company to work with! They managed to get my porch done so quickly and professionally. I will definitely be recommending them to everyone. Eric was great at coming out so quickly to give me an estimate, Scott was amazing at fitting the job in so quickly, and the team they sent out were polite, pleasant, extremely neat and hard working.

Anderson insulation just recently provided spray in insulation and rock wool for our basement remodel. The team at Anderson made the process super simple. On the day of install the crew arrived on time, with all the right information and materials and completed the install in a few hours. They left the job site clean and I could not be happier with the results. I highly recommend Scott and his team for any project, big or small and will be calling them again for future projects.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Cambridge

How much can spray foam insulation save on heating and cooling bills in Cambridge?
Homeowners in mixed climates like Cambridge, MA typically see 20–30% reductions in total energy costs after spray foam installation. The savings come from both reduced heating in winter and reduced cooling in summer. The exact savings depend on your home's current insulation, size, and local energy rates, but most homeowners recoup the investment within 3–6 years.
Is spray foam better than fiberglass insulation for homes in Cambridge?
For most homes in Cambridge, MA, spray foam outperforms fiberglass significantly. Fiberglass batts insulate but do not air seal — meaning conditioned air still escapes through gaps. Spray foam both insulates and creates an airtight seal, addressing the root cause of energy loss. While spray foam costs more upfront, the performance difference in mixed climates makes it the better long-term investment for most homeowners.
Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost?
Spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your location. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic costs $2,000–$6,000. Most homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor?
Look for contractors who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
