A friend referred me to Camilo for drywall repair when I had a leak. I liked his work and ended up hiring his team to remove a wall and open up the kitchen and paint everything. It looks fantastic, thank you team.

Chris did an amazing job in my master bedroom. It was a huge project. Re did all the drywall along with sound insulation and ceiling drywall. He offered a great/reasonable price and the work was extremely high quality. I will be going through him to do any more drywall projects in my house. See pictures below. Highly recommend 5/5

We couldn’t be happier with the drywall work completed in our home! The quality of the work is top-notch—every seam is perfectly smooth, the corners are crisp, the ceiling looks amazing and the finish is flawless. The space was kept clean throughout the project. Chris was especially great to work with. He was very responsive to our questions and communicated clearly about all the details. He was flexible with a schedule change for us, and he was also willing to take on an additional touch-up project we needed, which we really appreciated. Throughout the process, Chris was always professional, kind, and respectful of our space. It’s clear he takes pride in his work, and the results speak for themselves. We highly recommend Chris for anyone looking for high-quality, reliable drywall work. A truly outstanding experience from start to finish!

John did a he'll of a job on my bathroom drywall, backer board and tile repair. It all started when there was a leak behind my condo shower wall from above so they had to cut out a tile & most of the backer board and another 15x15 in hole in the drywall adjacent in order to get through to replace faulty pipes. John came through, restored my drywall opening, paint matched entire wall, cut left over backer board to square & precision installed a new backer board w/red guard & installed a new ceramic tile perfectly inplace, & grouted, then John cleaned & reset my rental to perfection I mean 5 🌟 I highly recommend this guy.

I had a leak in my roof under my hot water solar panel. MRC was able to coordinate with my solar contractor so that they could be there at the same time. MRC made sure that the penetrations into my metal roof were sealed properly once the solar was removed. MRC also coated my flat roof with silicone. The communication between MRC, the solar contractor and myself was very good, and the job was done in one day. I am a previous customer of MRC’s and I’m glad that I called them again. One solar contractor that I spoke with told me that the sections of metal roofing under my solar panel needed to be replaced. MRC told me that was incorrect and over kill for such a minor repair. With the money I saved on metal roof panel replacement I was able to put toward coating my flat roof with silicone. A lot of my neighbors have coated their roofs with silicone also instead of tearing off their existing roofs. The nice thing about silicone is that Hawaii’s algae can’t embed into it, which means it will be easy to keep clean in the future. If you’re looking for an honest roofing company. I highly recommend MRC.

We chose MRC Roofing to coat our roof With Silicone. From start to finish it was done professionally. The whole process went by quicker then I expected. We Highly recommend MRC Roofing for any If your roofing needs to our family and friends. MAHALO MCR Roofing. ALOHA

MRC Roofing to the rescue. My flat roof sustained wind damage from the heavy winds recently. I spoke with a few roofers that didn’t know their way around an insurance claim or know how to communicate or advocate for me, the homeowner in regards to the insurance adjusters who tried to minimize my claim as a repairable option for my roof that was not repairable, per the manufacturer’s technical factory representative that had to write a letter to my claim office that my type of roof was not repairable on CertainTeed company letter head. Luckily, Jon at MRC knew how to push for a total reroof in order to get me made whole again with a total reroof that came with a 50-year material warranty and 7-year workmanship warranty, where as a repair scope would have left me without a warranty on my roof at all. Luckily MRC has journeyman roofers on their crew that know how to handle lumber repair, which my roof needed a lot of (unforeseeable). My insurance company drug their feet as long as they could. They even went out and got a fourth roofer’s opinion in order to reject my claim. MRC then coated my new roof with a thick layer of commercial grade silicone and has a high reflectivity rating. I shouldn’t ever have worry about my main roof again. I highly recommend MRC Roofing.

We recently had our roof replaced by Protech and we are very pleased with the outcome. The team at Protech did an amazing job and met all the times they promised. We took a long time to finalize the job because of some issues but the team at Protech honored and extended the quote they first gave us. I can't say enough about our contact Jared who we worked with thru the entire process. Jared provided great communication and was very timely with this information with us. The team that did the work was top notch and very professional. We added on a job to add on gutter to the house and that was also a seamless operation with these professionals. The team also did quality work to make the repairs our 60+ year old house desperately needed to prepare for the reroofing job. We contacted 3 roofing companies and no doubt this company is the best in the business. We are very pleased with Protech, Jared and the whole team!

I recently had Protech Roofing blow insulation into my attic. They spent about 3 hours and left without a trace. No mess. I can also say that anyone who has an attic should get insulation as it makes a noticeable difference. I will use AC less often now and when I do, it wont use as much energy. My ceiling was hot during the day before and now it feels very cool. Full disclosure, I worked with Protech on a large commercial project for my day job and they also were very efficient and communicated well which is why I trusted them to help with my personal home.

Protech Roofing is a first rate business. I've been a licensed contractor for 12 years. Charlie's guys are great to work with. Yes ! I would recommend them to everybody ! Go Charlie and Thank You...

Home Depot was very helpful in helping me with the selection of my Stackable washer/dryer. The computer system went down nationwide, but they worked diligently to complete the purchase through this ordeal. Great job!

My wife my service K9 Petey and I went to this Home Depot that use to be the 99 that we loved so much and low and behold there is a Home Depot in it's place. We walked around and got the lay of the new store and love the way it is laid out. The staff were very accommodating. It looks wonderful. Mahalo for your hard work aaand Aloha!!!

I was bored at home so i decided to head to home depot and try to buy some wood and make a table at home. I have never wood worked and although I work on aircraft weapon systems, i dont own the tools needed for wood AND dont know how to pick out wood or measurements for them…. I went down the wood isles about 3 times before eventually asking Jaris for help. I told him im a beginner and he welcomed and even encouraged me to attempt to woodwork. He went throughout the ENTIRE store picking everything I needed out. He cut the wood for me so it could fit in my car, took me to where I needed to be to get my tools, and helped me pick out the nails I would need aswell as the stain and gloss. Im not sure I would be happy with the result of my first ever DIY job without Jaris’s help. I hope he can see this message or atleast know the table ended up being finished the next day and it turned out better than expected! Will be back next week for more wood

I’ve been a loyal City Mill customer since 2000, always choosing to support a locally owned and operated business over big-box stores like Home Depot or Lowe’s. I’ve made it a point to check with City Mill first before going anywhere else — that is, until my most recent experience. On my last visit, I needed to have two keys made — one house key and one motorcycle key (with my own blank) — as well as purchase some lumber and two saw blades for my circular and miter saws. The store was quiet, with only one other customer at the key counter, so I patiently waited my turn. When it was finally my turn, the older gentleman assisting customers at the key counter — who appeared to be in his late 70s — greeted me with no smile, no warmth, and a clear attitude of annoyance. I placed my keys on the counter, and he immediately picked up the blank motorcycle key, saying he couldn’t make a copy and that I “might as well throw it away.” I thought he was joking, but he slammed the key down on the counter and said, “How do you think this company makes money? Do you think we make money taking your blank and making copies?” At that point, it became clear he was serious and extremely rude. As a former business owner of nearly 20 years, I would never have allowed anyone representing my company to treat a customer that way. I told him I’d take my business elsewhere, and he dismissively waved his hands and said, “Go right ahead,” as if I were the problem. Still in disbelief, I spoke with the manager to share what had just happened — but unfortunately, she was less than helpful and offered no meaningful resolution or apology. After years of supporting City Mill, this experience completely changed my opinion of the company. I’ve decided I will no longer shop there and will instead take all my business to Home Depot or Lowe’s from now on. This was a one-star experience from start to finish — rude service, poor attitude, and no accountability from management.

Will never shop here again. Bought a simple hose, was the wrong size, went to return it "with the receipt" and they demanded my ID.... said they cant do a return without ID even though I have recipe for an unopened item.

Frequently Asked Questions — Spray Foam Insulation in Honolulu

These are the questions Honolulu homeowners ask most about spray foam cost, R-value, and open- vs. closed-cell foam — with context for local pricing and roughly 25% typical energy savings. Compare the 15 verified Honolulu contractors above for exact quotes.

Is spray foam insulation worth the cost?
For most homeowners, yes. Spray foam creates an air-tight seal that traditional insulation cannot match, reducing energy bills by 15–35% annually. It also adds structural rigidity, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, reduces outside noise, and can increase home resale value. The higher upfront cost compared to fiberglass is typically recovered within 3–7 years. One important note: because spray foam creates a very tight building envelope, proper mechanical ventilation is important to maintain healthy indoor air quality and prevent interior moisture buildup. This is typically handled by an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) — a system that brings fresh outside air in while pushing stale air out, recovering the energy from the outgoing air so you don't waste what you paid to heat or cool — or a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV), which works similarly but is optimized for cold climates. A qualified contractor will assess whether your home needs ventilation upgrades as part of the installation.
How much does spray foam insulation cost in Honolulu, HI?
In Honolulu, HI and the surrounding area, spray foam insulation typically costs $1.00–$3.00 per square foot installed, depending on the type and your home's specifics. Open-cell foam runs $0.44–$0.65 per board foot, while closed-cell foam costs $1.00–$2.00 per board foot. A typical 2,000 sq ft home attic in Honolulu costs $2,000–$6,000. Most Honolulu homeowners recoup this investment within 3–7 years through energy savings of 15–35% annually.
What is the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell spray foam is softer, less dense, and less expensive. It expands significantly and is ideal for interior walls, attics, and soundproofing. Closed-cell spray foam is denser, stronger, and provides a moisture barrier — making it better for exterior applications, crawl spaces, and areas prone to flooding or humidity. Closed-cell also has a higher R-value per inch (R-6 to R-7 vs R-3.5 to R-4 for open-cell). One key difference: open-cell foam allows some vapor movement, while closed-cell acts as a vapor barrier — an important consideration for your home's ventilation needs.
How long does spray foam insulation last?
Spray foam insulation is one of the most durable insulation options available, with a lifespan of 80+ years when properly installed. Unlike fiberglass batting which can sag and settle over time, spray foam maintains its shape and insulating properties indefinitely. It will typically outlast the building it is installed in.
How do I find a qualified spray foam insulation contractor in Honolulu, HI?
When searching for a spray foam contractor in Honolulu, HI, look for ones who are licensed, insured, and have verifiable reviews. Spray foam requires specialized equipment and training — improper installation can cause off-gassing, adhesion failure, or fire hazards. Ask for references, verify their insurance, and get at least 2–3 quotes. A qualified Honolulu contractor will also assess your home's ventilation needs — a tightly sealed spray foam installation requires adequate mechanical ventilation to prevent moisture and indoor air quality issues. FoamMatch pre-screens all listed contractors in Honolulu for licensing and insurance so you can compare verified professionals in your area.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Most residential spray foam jobs take 1–2 days depending on the size of the area. A standard attic takes 4–8 hours. After spraying, the foam cures within 24 hours, though most contractors recommend waiting 24–72 hours before occupying the space due to off-gassing during the curing process.
Does spray foam insulation need to be replaced?
No — spray foam insulation does not need to be replaced under normal circumstances. Unlike fiberglass insulation which degrades over time, spray foam maintains its R-value and air sealing properties for the life of the building. The only reasons to remove or replace spray foam are water damage, renovation work, or improper original installation.
